August 21, 201015 yr I've noticed that on my system several of the voice clips are so low that it is simply impossible to hear them. Since no one else have complained I assume that it is somehow related to my computer and I wonder what I can do about it? Editing the clips myself and raising the volume? In that case, what would be a suitable program to do that with? The clips are eg where you are greeted after having said "any snags", when the load sheet is handed over and a few more. Others on the other hand, eg the FA announcements, are so loud that I literally have to turn down the volume not to wake up the kids on the upper floor! :D Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
August 21, 201015 yr ive noticed this too, but it happens at random with the same clips, sometimes its very soft, other times its normal and other times its loud. Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.

August 21, 201015 yr Commercial Member it happens with them allDid you try turning up the Volume on the FS2Crew CFG page?Other than that, I can't explain other than to say maybe you're pushing your system too hard and it's putting too much of a load on the audio engine.Try de-fragging your hard-drive, running an anti-virus scan and ensure non-necessary programs aren't running when you run FS. This will help reduce the load on your system. Also try updating/refreshing your audio drivers.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

It's really not a biggie since the important audio clips you hear when interacting with the FO are coming through perfectly. Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------

August 23, 201015 yr Author Well, which audio clips are coming in low?- The initial greeting, - the reply I get after saying "any snags..."- when FA asks if it's ok to start boarding- receiving the load sheet- receiving the PCS- receiving the fuel slipetcAs I said, the FO is loud and clear and it really isn't practical trying to raise the volume from the computer and turning down all other sounds in FS9 in order to hear these clips better. As I also said, it's no biggie since the FO's voice is good, but if I could fix it easily I'd like to give it a try. Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------

The Volume control slider only affects the FO voice (checklists, etc).I'd simply turn up the volume on your speakers.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
August 24, 201015 yr Author Well, that means I would have to adjust down all the other sounds in the FS9 settings plus remembering to turn down the speakers after each FS2crew LevelD session! I also have the Maddog 2010 version and there all these corresponding audio clips have suitable volume levels to start with, so they would be WAAY to loud then after turning up the volume. Also, the FA clips are already good albeit on the slightly louder side, so they would be screaming if I turned up the speakers. But my initial question was what for this purpose suitable, preferably freeware, sound editing software is there and, since I wasn't able to locate the clips, where are they stored? :D Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------

I find them to be a normal level, but I know how subjective this kind of thing is.The sounds are compiled together in an XACT project; long story short, unless you can find a way to decompile and recompile an XACT project, you can't access the individual wavs.Best, B. So I really don't think it's a subjective thing but something going astray on my specific system. I just have to keep an eye on the elapsed time counter then so I know when to say "thanks" and the other trigger responses.Apart from that I feel that LevelD is better at understanding my Swedish accent than the Maddog version so I get much better fluidity in the flow. Of course, the speech recognition engine is the same so I guess it's just that the trigger words suits my pronunciation better! Anyways, very much enjoying this release and eagerly looking forward to what your magic stick can do for the PMDG 737NGX! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------

You can even hear some of those sounds in the beginning of the 767 demo video, and they're normal volume level.Try fiddling with some of your audio settings. Also, the voice recognition engine is the same between the Maddog and 767 version, so your results should also be very similar on that front... but you said you got better results with the 767... hmmmm.Best, B. August 24, 201015 yr Author Now this was pretty odd! It struck me that I should try another sound device so I routed everything in fs9 over the usb headset, and what do you know, all the sound clips where there at normal level. Then I changed back to my usual settings with the FS9 sound going through the Creative soundcard (of course restarting fs9 in between) and the sound level was low again. Then I started up Maddog with FS2Crew 2010 and checked that the corresponding audio files were heard which they were. Then I immediately switched to LevelD and now I heard the voices correctly! So the solution is... I have no freaking idea really, but at least it works now... The wonderful world of computers!!! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
