FSX on brand new PC but,

Featured Replies

Hey fellows, so after a long time, I could started to flight FSX. First of all I began to test the performance selecting from low, medium low, medium high until high, but from here I back on the game and the plane move a little and suddenly appears the famous BLUE SCREEN showing the SO problems and the sistem reset then. This issue happenned 2 times and also tried with the ultra high with the same results (BLUE SCREEN). This is frustrating because I have a very expensive machine at least here in Chile, SouthAmerica.the specs of my sistem: intel core i5 750 @ 2,8 Ghz (auto OC by sistem), CPU Cooler Thermalright Venomous X with 2 thermaltake fans,MOBO MSI P55-GD85, mmy Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333 Mhz, 9-9-9-24, HDD Samsung 7200rpm 320Gb, VGA EVGA GTX470 1280 Mb, etc running under Windows XP SP3, with DirectX 9.0c, GeForce GTX470 working with latest drivers and FSX Golden Edition installed (FSX Deluxe+Acceleration)The sistem temperatures aren't over 36°C with sistem stressed.and also ran FS2004 with awesome results!!please I appreciate all help.PD: sorry for my english !!PD2: I wonder why FSX started with graphic performance in "LOW" even though the great specs of my machine ?

I hope I understand from what you wrote...You tried low quality (the default) (FSX starts at a low setting for i3/i5/i7 cpu due to the low clock speed definition) it worksYou tried medium - it workedyou tried high - BSDOne thing - possible that you have a bad memory bank. You couldrun some memory tests. ie you did not get problems until you neededall the memory for the high quality.

you tried high - BSD
What does mean BSD ?

Auto overclock is probably what causes instability, I´ve had desktop overclock programs giving me nothing but trouble. Overclocking is best done manually through BIOS.If you google it there are threads out there discribing step by step overclocking of i7 processors.

You can check the temperature of the core with "realtemp" whichyou should run. Then you can see if it is a temperature problem. When you say system OC - did you mean the boost that is built intothe i7 core or did you run a separate program - it just says auto-overclock - is the i7 boost for single core app.

Hi Niboldo,When you have a blue screen failure, the system will write a crash dump file in this directory: C:\windows\MinidumpDownload this program: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/installx86.mspx#bInstall it, open it and go to the file menu and select 'open crash dump' , then navigate to the c:\windows\minidump folder.Open the most recent minidump file there, it will ask you a question, just say no, then browse through it and see if it gives you some clues as to what is causing the blue screen error.Especially at the bottom of the script it will give you a probable cause.David.

Ok, thanks for all replies fellows. I want to explain what does work the OC by sistem. The MSI P55-GD85 has a feature that according the hardware environment overclocked the sistem, while most advanced features of every single component, mayor will be the overclocked value, for my sistem the mother board made calculations and OC the CPU from 2,6 Ghz stock to 2,8 Ghz. (I did anything manually for OC). Do you think this would be the problem ?

Try a manual OC, test stability with OCCT (there are other options out there), OCCT can also stress test your power supply.
