August 23, 201015 yr Anyone have an easy way to disable FSX's detection of multiple monitors? I have three (plus two software-driven small USB screens) but I don't care much for the surround view abilities - I find I can work and fly just fine off one monitor. I like to throw up charts and information for my flight on the adjacent screens for easy reference.Problem is, if I start up FSX with all my monitors activated (excluding the USB ones - FSX crashes during start up when they're active) it will use all 3 monitors when I load a flight. To prevent this, I disable all the monitors except my main, load up FSX and then re-enable all the monitors (including the USB ones - FSX runs fine with them active). That's a bit annoying. It would be nice to just start up FSX without going through the extra hassle to deny it my multiple monitors. Currently, I'm thinking of just having FSX.cfg open and deleting the entries for the two extra monitors from it after FSX has started. Any other ideas? Anyone else with multiple monitors that don't use them for the flight aspect of the sim? Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports

Do you fly in full screen? In this case the harware set-up should list all the monitors.RV See U in the cloud(s) Galleries @FlyEM Flying Ideas
August 24, 201015 yr Author Yea I fly in full screen. What exactly do you mean by "set up"? For me the problem is apparent even before I load a flight - if I go into the Graphics Settings upon starting the sim it will already list all 3 of my monitors if I don't have them turned off prior to start up. August 24, 201015 yr In fsx.cfg change WideViewAspect=True to False. Are you using TripleHead2Go to connect the three monitors? "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
August 24, 201015 yr Author Thanks I'll give that a try next time I play around with FSX!No, I have two discrete graphics cards running my 3 monitors. Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports
August 24, 201015 yr Don't think the wide view aspect change will fix your issue. When you get to the freeflight screen, go into settings and adjust your resolution so that it displays on one screen only, once the flight has loaded. Keith Sandford.
August 24, 201015 yr I have a daul monitor setup with a 23 inch widescreen being my "main" monitor, and sitting right in front of me. a 19 inch older 4:3 aspect "square" lcd sits off to the side. For FSX i have to run in window mode to be able to use the second monitor for a moving map, flight planner, or whatever. I would love to be able to run in full screen but i dont think it is possible. My video card is a dual head nvidia 9800GTI just feel i am taking a performance hit by having to run in windowed mode and if anyone has a suggestion on how i can run fsx in fullscreen and still be able to use the smaller monitor for my flight planner id love to hear it
August 24, 201015 yr When I applied *******' tweaks and unhooked my second monitor, my performance improved drastically and I am finally crash-free. Since I always fly full screen, I was also able to use the ENBmod for the first time.I actually unplug the second monitor from the video card before each flight. The Windows 7 desktop bounces between the two configurations without issues when set to dual view as long as the one that is plugged in is the primary in dual view. I am using two 23" wide screens on one video card with wide aspect true. From what I can tell, you have to actually unplug the second monitor to see a gain from a single monitor.I liked having two monitors in FSX but I only used it for displaying pop up screens and the ATC window. I knew I could live without it in FSX and also knew I couldn't live without in outside of FSX.The single monitor set up for FSX has been working very well for me. Adjusting resolution won't change anything - it will still show the second (or third) monitor as detected. There seems to be no way within the FSX shell to completely disable a monitor Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports
