September 8, 201015 yr Hello all,I am inquiring regarding the feasability of the Airsimmer A320 online. My Wilco is gettig a little long in the tooth and I would like to venture into online flying with something a little simpler (but still an airliner). If I am correct, the A320 lacks with regards to VNAV (correct me if I am wrong). Can you add/delete SIDs/STARs on the fly and will the aircraft follow them? What are the shortcommings of this aircraft with regards to online flying?I actually used to own the Airsimmer offering way back when it was first released but returned it to due what I thought was a problem with the aircraft (OOM CTDs) that ended up being an issue with my system (which was rectified a while back after the return). I never repurchased since I wanted to see if the development team would stick around and support the product or if the company was going to bail. I must say, outside of the OOM issue I had, I never really had an issue with the A320 outside of a few AP issues which seemed pretty random. Because of this, I never really got into the add-on and just wet the refund route. Nopw that I am looking at flying online and expandig my horizons (no pun intended), I have decided togive the aircraft a second look.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time! September 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi,All my flights are on Vatsim and it flies great for me, if you have any problems PM me and I'll be glad to help. Here are a couple of issues - Some runways can still cause a CTD in the MCDU - for me out of about 50 appraoches I fly with my VA 3 of them will give me a CTD if I select them in the Airsimmer MCDU (OLBA,OMAA and a german Airport)Current solution for those runways is to not select it in the MCDU but tune the ILS Rawdata on the RADNAV page, you can still fly a normal appraoch.Pushback - Do not select IGN or Crank until the aircraft has completed pushback. One thing that is handy on the Airbus is you dont have to keep switching your Transponder on and off when entering/vacating the active runway, just select Auto & TA/RA and the aircraft does it for you.Airbus doesn't have VNAV :) the Airsimmer Bus does have Managed CLB/DES and it will give you a TOD and DES path on the PFD however it's missing variable speed on the PFD, descent is fixed to 320 knots above 10000. Like in the real world use a mixture of Managed,OP DES and vertical speed.Regards Rob Prest

September 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member One very important point that I should have included - The MCDU will give you your SID & STAR constraints however you still need to manually select them in the FCU as the aircraft will not automatically level off. Rob Prest
September 8, 201015 yr In general, I really like this airplane, but after the latest update, I can't get my controller to work properly. I'm in a constant ailerons on the left wing up and down on the other side. Every time they do an update, they fix one problem and create two more.
September 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member Register your product and post over on the tech forum, it's important that your elavators & ailerons are not calibrated through fsuipc as it affects the FBW - Anyway can you try something for me. depressurize the hydraulic system and switch of all ELECS & SECS, are the controls still full left? If yes then it sounds like a install issue. Anyway best to not turn this into a tech support thread, the OP was asking about flying online.Regards Rob Prest
September 8, 201015 yr Rob, Reset the hydros. That seem to do it, but I had another issue that I found, the toe brakes were assigned to the ailerons. DUH! Thanks for your help. As far as the aircraft is concerned, if Airsimmer could get its' act together, this could be a great bus for FS9.
September 9, 201015 yr Author What are both of your biggest disappointments with the add-on?From my limited time with it, I do remember the model being excellent and the VC being gorgeous. September 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member My only real issue is the fear of a CTD if I select a new runway in the MCDU, if your flying around Europe on Vatsim it's very likely that your going to be switching STARS and runways in flight, but as I pointed out it's best to just bring up the RAD/NAV page and fly the thing raw data. Some people are having major problems still so airsimmer need to get this sorted across all systems, but for the rest of us it's working well from startup to shutdown. On the plus side, the FBW works exactly like the real thing when comparing it to the real A320 FCOM and is one of best FS aircraft I've hand flown, same thing with the all the aircraft systems. For me it's nice when developers add minute system details that most people wouldn't even notice unless they really went looking for it, that's what gave me a lot of respect for the guy's at PMDG.But still a long way to go until we get a exact A320 replica! September 9, 201015 yr Hi,I was curious about the Airsimmer A320, and took the plunge and did a purchase on Sept. 6th. Today I made my first request for refund ever after more than twenty years of simming. Three days of mixed feelings really. In general the plane is a nice experience. But there are two major things that made me make up my mind for a refund. The main issue I had with it, is the lac of possibility to save a selfmade flightplan. Also that it is not possible to import a default FS flightplan, or any import for that matter. What also is quite anoying, is the lac of dynamic shine on the visual model. The reason they say is tha they had to choose between having "see through" windows or dynamic shine?? But hey....there are several developers who actually did both see through windows and dynamic shine. Staffan
September 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member It's a shame that something like dynamic shine would make you want to refund a aircraft but I guess I'm one of those that rarely ventures out of the flightdeck. There's so much more to a Simulation then stuff like that, I remember reading a post over on the PMDG forum, one guy said he would refuse to purchase the 737NGX if they didn't include eyebrow windows, I find that amazing considering the complexity of the simulation as a whole, but each to there own :)I agree regarding the flight plans if this was a long haul aircraft I would find it annoying punching in the route by hand on every flight, considering most of my flights on the A320 are around 1 - 2 hours manual entry using the airways via option takes a few minutes tops.Regards Rob Prest
September 9, 201015 yr This is suposed to be a "Basic" version. What could be more basic than to be able to import FS flightplans.....just like every default plane can.And I said that the main reason for the refund was just the flightplan problems. To claim that you can only choose "see through" windows or dynamic shine on a model, is nothing more than plain lazyness, since there are many examples of models which has both IMHO. :( Staffan
September 9, 201015 yr LOL! A viable choice? Airsimmer? If your idea of fun is CTDing every few nm! :( No compromise! :LMAO:Sorry, nothing personal mate...but Airsimmer and the word viable together is too much! ---------------------- Dave Bedford
September 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member I think Basic means no ECAM Actions QRH failures, Alternate Law etc. Not Abacus basic Rob Prest
