  1. Rodd has his opinion on the ifly. I happen to agree with him, and find the PMDG a better option. I also got mocked for my opinion. This is supposed to be a discussion forum. But clearly there is a groovy clique that does not allow criticism of the latest toy. Really, what a bloody shower.Cheers,Dave
  2. I used to wonder why I would lose speed and eventually stall in cold weather before I discovered pitot heat.At the very start I couldn't work out how to pushback and tried using full thrust and slamming on the reverse thrust in an attempt to push back.Dave
  3. The beauty of FS is you can have any "timeline" you like. Many believe modern jets lack elegance and variety and like me enjoy flying aircraft now hardly used or out of service like Tridents, Comets, Caravelles, BAC-111s or Concorde. Kai Tak is an amazing airport I use a lot - although I wish I could find charts for it! Dave
  4. Thanks, good find! Great aircraft this. There's some other aircraft (and ships) on that site too.Cheers,Dave
  5. I personally don't think it's worth getting if you have the PMDG.Last time I said that I got dog's abuse, which was highly amusing. Seems there is a groovy gang clique that won't tolerate people not worshiping this aircraft. Cheers,Dave
  6. Don't worry so much about working FMCs! If you can work the PMDG 737 FMC you can probably work any, they all do the same thing only slightly differently.Probably the best thing to do when learning a new FMC is to watch a video on youtube and make your own notes, pausing as you go. That way you can see EXACTLY how it works. The manual can then be referred to as you go.Dave
  7. Great topic Arklight. There are some mentioned here I haven't heard of and will try out! ISD Italian sceneries and Sochi definitely deserve a special mention. It's amazing how many top notch freeware sceneries are available. Together with the many top quality aircraft available it's possible to have a first-class setup without spending a penny. Flying the PT Tu-154 to Sochi or the Tinmouse 737-200 to ISD Project LIMC or Maltby's BAC 111 into Swedflight Copenhagen to mention just a few - simply amazing. The best thing is - the supply of freeware scenery is seemingly endless. One need never fly to the same airport twice! One not mentioned yet is EBAW Antwerp. Fantastic scenery.Another is the Lebanon package which covers OLBA and the surrounding area. Also the new Tripoli International Airport 2010 is great.Dave
  8. I can't understand some of the idiotic responses this question seems to get. Anyway, I have tried both and prefer the PMDG. I can see that those who own neither might have something to think about but if you have the PMDG already, as many do, the ifly is a waste of time imo.How this riles so many people, i'll never know. FS9 add ons seem to attract their own mafia these days. For a while you couldn't say anything bad about the Airscammer bus :( I said when I first heard about this project that it was a very strange choice of aircraft. A 777 for example has not been modelled to this standard and would have made a killing.Dave
  9. I've had a go of it.Waste of money if you have the superior PMDG 737.Dave
  10. LOL! A viable choice? Airsimmer? If your idea of fun is CTDing every few nm! :( No compromise! :LMAO:Sorry, nothing personal mate...but Airsimmer and the word viable together is too much!
  11. vonmar I explained above I have tried reinstalling.I'll give the firewall idea a go, you never know. Thanks.Dave
  12. I'd vounch for Radar Contact. It's a very good program. Coupled with a good AI installation it's a very nice change from flying online.Dave
  13. Hi vonmar,Sorry forgot to give details - I am running FS9.1 on XP.Yep it's worked in the past, which is why it's confusing me. It used to just happen now and again but I just can't get squawkbox in the menu at all now. Full screen or windowed mode, the available menu options remain the same. Haven't installed anything recently which might cause this either.Cheers,Dave
  14. Hi,I wondered if anyone has experienced the above problem and found a solution to it? I run FS9 in full screen mode (windowed mode for some reason doesn't agree with my set-up) and when I press ALT to access the menu and go to Modules, Squawkbox option is not there. Sometimes when I restart FS it appears again in the menu but recently I can't get it at all despite reinstalling Squawkbox.I tried the Squawkbox forum but after being asked 1001 increasingly superfluous questions culminating in things like "What colour socks are you wearing when the problem occurs" and "have you tried growing a moustache to see if that resolves it?" I concluded that nobody really knew the answer.Ok they didn't really suggest growing a moustache but you get the drift.Any suggestions appreciated.Cheers, Dave
  15. A better indicator of FS9 use would perhaps not be another 737. I personally have enough 737s already, I am happy with those i have. This would just be a waste of money. Why buy ANOTHER 737!?If a more "original" aircraft was released, then we might see how popular FS9 still is.Cheers,Dave
