Thinking of purchasing iFly 737 NG

Featured Replies

Hello,I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on the iFly 737 NG but am curious about one thing: Can I load default FS9 flight plans directly into the FMC for this bird? Thanksin advance for any help.Cheers, Pete

Pete, The iFly 737 will not take the standard FS9 flight plans. They have to be in the iFly format that can be produced with FS Build or Flightsim Commander. you can also enter flight plans manually. It's a great airplane that you'll really enjoy. These are the forums at Flight 1: http://ifly.flight1.net/forums/default.asp

Is the iFly really worth getting if you have a working POSKY-PMDG 737 merge? I mean, the model is great and so is the panel as well as it's functionality for this merge, so what more than this does the iFly have to offer? I have been here and read some of it: http://iflysimsoft.c...ail.aspx?PID=1.

When I bought the iFly, I had the no 737, so my judgement may be heavily biased, but I think there are several things that make the iFly 737 worthwhile purchasing if you feel they are important to you.- The model, inside and out is far mroe accurate. If you have the POSKY merge, then outside might not be a big deal, but you get a fully 3D, functional VC with the iFly model.- the iFly 737 allows you to save panel states, so if you don't have the time to complete a flight, you don't lose it halfway because you had to stop and couldn't save.- You get all models at once, including options for winglets and eyebrows, without all the fuss that you get with the merging.- You get great support.

HelloIf you want the best 737NG ever released for FS9 then the i-Fly is a must buy.The systems are modelled to be as near as possible to the real aircraft, one example is that on takeoff unless the aircraft is correctly configured and trimmed you will not get to autopilot to engage. There are a lot of models out there where this is not the case. The i-Fly is probably the last aircraft of this detail that will be produced for FS9 and is on its way to being a classic, a few bugs remain but the SP1 is on its way and the support from Flight1 and the development team is very good.I would put it up there with the Leonardo MD once developement is complete. Finally it is from Flight1 so buy it and if it is not what you are looking for get your money back within 30 days. Flight1 have also said that existing users will be able to buy the FSX version for around $14 when released, so you are future proofed on this one.

And don't forget iFly has a widescreen 2D panel! How many of us still have the old 4:3 cubes?OK, I know, there still are a few.... :(

Me... :( My Samsung died a few days ago... :(

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

Thanks for responding Mike. I do have FSCommander but I had read that there were issues with saving as the iFly 747 and then using as the iFly 737. Has this been patched or is there now an option in FSC to save as the 737 as well (as opposed to the 747 and then converting)? I am at work so I can't check myself. As long as this works without issues, then I will definitely buy (probably as early as tonight) since the reviews of this plane have me wanting to see for myself. Thanks again.Cheers, Pete

Hello PeteAll you need to do is create a 747-400 directory in \Flight Simulator 9\iFly\ as shown in the pic. Then FSCommander will save the i-Fly formatted fplan into \iFly\747-400\Navdata\FLTPLAN\It just remains to copy it into \iFly\737NG\navdata\FLTPLAN\ folder.Hopefully they will fix this for FSC 9.0

Thanks a bunch, that sounds easy enough. Now if I can just leave work early and buy this bird things would be perfect!

I personally don't think it's worth getting if you have the PMDG.Last time I said that I got dog's abuse, which was highly amusing. Seems there is a groovy gang clique that won't tolerate people not worshiping this aircraft. Cheers,Dave

Hello DaveI have both and am definitely not in a clique. The PMDG is looking old now and is not very accurate in the VC as PMDG recently pointed out in their recent screenshots. The i-Fly is much better, as it should be given the years that have passed since the PMDG was released.Like any good study sim you need to spend some time with it before you find out all the features.I have over five years using the PMDG 737 and only one month in the i-Fly and it is clear to me which is the best. How much time did you spend in the i-Fly to reach your conclusions?.PS:looking over some ones shoulder does not count :(

I guess having flown the PMDG 737 since it was released for MSFS 2002, I've been sort of brainwashed and indoctrinated into believing the way PMDG 737 is flown and operated is the correct way. I really don't know if that is true, after all it's an old design and PMDG's first aircraft for MSFS. But if I try flying the iFly 737 as I fly the PMDG737 - and again it may be completely wrong - I end up in trouble the few times I've tried so far. Last night I did a short flight and noted these peculiarities: I flew the departure manually but with LNAV and VNAV armed to get guidance from the FD. However, although the route was correctly entered and displayed, the FD wanted me to continue on runway heading although the route had turned away way before. Well, I manually flew the departure and used heading select to put it on a path to cross the route. Then pressing LNAV however produced the message that I didn't fly an intercept path so I couldn't engage it. OK, so kept on the heading til I cross the magenta line and then I could engage LNAV. I continued the climb in LNAV and VNAV mode. Then after a while AT disengaged and stayed in armed position. I could not engage VNAV, SPEED or FLCH no matter what I did. So I was somewhere around 20,000 feet and just for fun dialed in 14,000 feet on the altitude meter. Now VNAV engaged and the plane started climbing. :D So I got closer to the airport flying in ALT HOLD and Heading select. Put myself on an intercept course for the ILS with the ILS frequency on both NAVs and engaged VOR LOC. The airplane flew happily through the localizer so I ended up flying that part too manually. There must be something very wrong with my installation or the habits I've learned from the PMDG 737 are in no way correlated to what you do in the iFly! Anyway, I've never seen anything go so wrong during such a short flight and I was actually having a lot of fun! :D Need to dig through their manuals again and learn the proper way.I also have to say to that it has a brilliant VC and A LOT of atmosphere! I will be a brilliant airplane once it gets CP Flight MCP support! And speaking of support, Steve Masson gives absolutely brilliant effort and seems to be a very nice guy!Edited: Forgot to mention one very important part - I haven't installed any patch yet!!! I shall install the v2 tonight and state here if it gets things working properly for me.

Not going to give you any abuse as everyone has there own opinion, But I also flew the PMDG for 5 years And can say that within the first few hours of flying the IFLY 737 felt that it was miles ahead of the pimgee version. P.S Not saying that PMDG made a horible aircraft, I just SO MUCH PREFER the IFLY 737.
