Hi Just wondered if anyone knew about any developers making a Dubai Airport Scenery for FS9/FSX, I did see one via FSdeveloper.com, but that project seems to be dead, as the developer website has been offline for a long time.Would be good to have a proper updated DXB Airport. Thanks

I believe FlyTampa have a Dubai package. RegardsMartin

Look closer Google Earth as today a BIG difference than FlyTampa scenery. The runways are changed. FlyTampa did not updated or changed runways for 2 years. The FlyTampa forums many guys were asking for updated but they did not do anything now FlyTampa already released Buffalo NY scenery. Now, they do nothing! I don't like FlyTampa scenery anymore. FlyTampa designers do not care about us! Stuart

Maybe the guy's just been busy with real life and hasn't gotten around to updating his scenery... :(

Obviously, they're too busy with the Kai Tak package and the partnership with Aerosoft for new sceneries AFAIK. LOL.gif

Kai Tak? Ahh, That's old airport and today is no longer airport there. Why do we need this old airport for? It doesn't reality to me. This is a real life timeline today. Stuart

Maybe because every pilot's heart starts beating faster when he hears "Kai Tak"? Maybe because it is one of the most scenic and challenging approaches in the world? And FlyTampa has done a superb job on this one. As real as it gets? You bet... Big%20Grin.gifRegards,Jure

I'll second that, Jure. Fly Tampa's Kai Tak Airport scenery also includes an amazing rendition of the Hong Kong city-scape and harbor. Set the time for dusk and then hop into the R22 helicopter to check out the city lights as they come to life. Who cares if Kai Tak closed in 1997 ? Thanks to the good folks at Fly Tampa, time travel is possible for us flight simmers, allowing us to voyage back to pre-1997, when there was no alternative gateway to Hong Kong than to whip your heavy metal bird around that sharp right turn at the fabled checkerboard, testing your hand-flying airmanship in a most unforgiving manner.Tony

Best regards from Tony, at the helm of the flying desk.

Yup. As a matter of fact, I'm flying to Kai Tak with the PMDG 747 at this very moment. Right now I'm somewhere over Afghanistan. You know, often when I see somebody complain that the designers do not care for their customers, my hand starts to itch. It compels me to start breaking things. Why? because I find the attitude to be so egocentric, that it kills me to know that the Western world is turning into such a society. Stuart, please, be more reasonable. If a designer decides to do a different airport than some of his userbase might want him to do, that doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't care about them. There could be a dozen reasons for him not to update a scenery. Remember that Dubai is in the middle east, and they tend to be very restrictive when it comes to photographing airports, certainly in this age of high security around airports. Perhaps he just couldn't get the imagery he needed for a reasonable price. Perhaps he can get the imagery, but travelling to Dubai to make photographs is too expensive. Also he might find it much more profitable to do other airports such as Buffalo, because there aren't many high quality US airport sceneries. And finally, he is the designer, he chooses sceneries that interest him. As I understand it, FlyTampa is a company that makes sceneries that are interesting to them, and they don't do it a 100% for the money. If I would have to choose between an airport that doesn't interest me and one that does (considering that profit is not my main motivation to make the airport), I'd go for the one that does.Currently the man is doing a scenery for Athens, LGAV. I personally quite like the decision. Others don't. That's just the way it is...

The beauty of FS is you can have any "timeline" you like. Many believe modern jets lack elegance and variety and like me enjoy flying aircraft now hardly used or out of service like Tridents, Comets, Caravelles, BAC-111s or Concorde. Kai Tak is an amazing airport I use a lot - although I wish I could find charts for it! Dave

Charts are included with the free 9Dragons V2 download of Kai Tak which is a wonderful rendering of Hong Kong area as well. ( In 9Dragons Docs\9Dragons Pilot's guide v2.pdf ) Full marks to the 9Dragons team for what they have given to us. Thank you all.I should think you have a hard time getting a heavy Trident off of R31 at VHHX without hitting anything.Colin B

There are also charts at the special Hong Kong Vatsim site: http://hk.vatsea.net/index.php

A perfect and balanced answer to a ridiculous statement ! Sadly the Dubai Scenery is little dated now and I can never understand why ATC always directs you on to Runway 30L/R. I have been there a good number of times (in the real world) and 50% of the time we end up landing on Runway 12. However, it remains one of my favourite destinations on Flightsim especially when the airport is full of AI traffic. I can just about make it from most destiniations in Europe in my A320. I personally think the package is still great and would recommend it to anyone.

I agree that the Flytampa one is very outdated, but sadly I think its the only one here at the moment, so I guess oneday some will make one, I did put the idea to IMaginesim, but they declined and said it would not be profitable to make since there is the Flytampa one, but Flytampa have made it very clear that they will not update it.Thanks
