November 6, 201015 yr Wonder what silly mistakes people have made in FS9. Only asking as I just reinstalled cloud9 KLAX and tried to register the serial number using the licence key in the Fsdreamteam KLAS page. Only to find that it wasnt - so i thought - working. In my frustration just about to fire off an annoyed comment to the FSdreamteam forum then just in time saw the cloud9 entry for KLAX and hey presto all worked like clockwork :( And no I havent been drinking :( John Hewson
November 7, 201015 yr Couple of years back, started up FS9, only to discover no sounds.Went through all the settings and was just about to go down the reinstall route, when I discovered that at some point I had hit the "master mute" button on my keyboard!:(
November 7, 201015 yr HelloIts own up time! For a few years in my early FSim years...........I thought PITOT heat was PILOT heat.,and assumed it was there to heat the tootsies of cold pilots on chill November days.Sadly this is a true story.cheers Andy
November 7, 201015 yr A while back cant really remember where i was flying to but was heading west, had tuned a wrong VOR on departure which led me about 97 nm in the opposite direction of my destination, should have clued in by looking at the heading indictor, but i think it was just one of those "moments"hope this qualifies :( Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
November 7, 201015 yr Years ago I was very excited about a flight to my newly acquired scenery of Dubai OMDB by FlyTampa.I spent a lot of time preparing the flight, doing all calculations and making sure nothing will bother me.After six hours in the virtual air I finaly got OMDB in sight. Well... sort of. I realised I forgot to activate it in FS! :(
November 7, 201015 yr Commercial Member I recently overwrote about 1/2 of the 1024 x 1024 textures in my "FSX\Scenery\World\Texture" folder with a bunch of 256 x 256 terrain bitmaps that were intended for "FS9\Scenery\World\Texture". :blush:Jim
November 7, 201015 yr I used to wonder why I would lose speed and eventually stall in cold weather before I discovered pitot heat.At the very start I couldn't work out how to pushback and tried using full thrust and slamming on the reverse thrust in an attempt to push back.Dave ---------------------- Dave Bedford

November 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member Can you reverse that and put the fsx textures into fs9???Yes you can, in fact that's what I was doing/why I had both folders open, but the textures still need to be reduced to 256 x 256/DXT1/Mips. Any textures that were autogen-ed in FSX will need new .agn files for FS9. GEPro is a better alternative for that, but I like some of FSX's rock textures better than anything I've found for FS9 so I am using them (no .agn file).Jim
November 8, 201015 yr I have done more wheels up landings than I care to admit. I usually fly FS9 and FSX in GA aircraft, but sometimes choose to fly in either a retractable or in a heavy jet. Something distracts me and usually I discover the distraction by the horrible grinding sound down the runway. I don't do it often now, but I've done it enough that an America's Funniest home sim video montage can be made of my exploits. When nobody is looking, no problem. But a few times in multiplayer I have been caught doing this and must take my share of kidding.Regards,John
November 8, 201015 yr Now thats too funny!!!!I can imagine how dissapointed you were :(OOOH RAFAL! That's a stinker. As processional simmer you had of course selected a secondary destination airport in your flightplan Andy
November 8, 201015 yr Some years back, I had spent many hundreds of hours with FS2002, adding scenery, custom-building some myself, developing AFCADs, importing aircraft and developing a custom AI environment. Somehow, I never got around to backing up my work. You know the legend about going to Hawaii, and how you're not supposed to bring back volcanic rock, because the gods will be angry? Well, my wife brought back "a piece of the rock." The disk crashed hard. My entire FS2002 environment was lost.Moral: Don't anger Pele, the volcano goddess. And, oh yeah, back stuff up.
