Your best bet is to ask in the RC forum futher down the forums page...DJ

Hi,Have a registered version of FSUIPC.Purchase WideFS and register it in FSUIPC.Install WideFS on the client.Make sure the firewalls on BOTH computers are not blocking WideFS.Run WideFS and RC on the client and FS9 on the server.Fly!

THanks,What do you mean by; register FS Wide "in" FSUIPC. Do I need FSUIPC on my client? Do I need FS Wide on my CLient and on my Server? ThanksRo nHamilton

Some corrections, if I may, please:

Computer #2:------------1. Install Activesky (If your going to use this program)
Note that for FSX all recent versions of ActiveSky (ASX, ASA, and ASE) do not use WideFS -- you need SimConnect stuff on the client. I see you clarified this later.
4. Install AdvDisp (If your going to use this program)
AdvDisp is an FS Module which is long defunct. Please do not use it -- it will not work on FSX in any case.Possibly, on the client, you mean the little display program called "ShowText" (in the Updates Announcement on my Forum).[i see you do mention ShowText later]You omitted the installation of WideClient.exe on the Client PC.
Place WideServer.dll and WideServer.ini in your Flight Simulator Modules directory.Place AdvDisplay.dll in your Flight Simulator Modules directory.
No, neither of these are used on FSX. The Server code is incorporated into FSUIPC4, and Advdisplay is defunct and replaced by windowing facilities built into FSUIPC (for FS9 and FSX).RegardsPete

THank you both for the detailed reply. I am very confused though, I already have ASE and Plan G on a client via SimConnect...do I need to buy FSUIPC and FS Wide? Im very "young" when it comes to doing these kinds of things but I'll give it a try. I see on Simmarket.com FSUIPC is $39 CAN or so and FS Wide is about the same price. I'm afraid I cannot afford to spend around $80 for two programs that Im sure are extremely capable of doing a lot more then networking RC, but I'd only be using them for that so its kind of a waste of money is it not? Anyways I appreciate the quick and detailed responses non the less,Ron Hamilton

No. Neither of those programs need either. And you only buy FSUIPC if you want to use any of its documented user facilities. Install it and read the User Guide. If you don't need any of what it describes you don't need to buy it. You certainly don't need to buy it just to use WideFS, you only need to buy WideFS.

If you actually want to buy both, you buy them together at a bundle price. How have you missed that?If you don't need them, don't buy them. They are cheaper than your two PCs, of course, and cheaper than FS itself, but they are not necessary and you probably don't need them. Folks always thing software is a waste of money because they can't actually touch it, but it is a lot more work than assembling a PC I can tell you!Pete

Hi Pete,I should of known there would be mistakes when I put this together at 2am. I even went and checked it twice. :( Looks like I added info for the older ActiveSky6 program for FS9 that uses Wide FS. As well as some old programs/data in regards to AdvDisplay, WideServer.dll and WideServer.ini.Thanks Pete

Yes, if all you want to do is run some FSUIPC-interfacing program, like RC, on a Client PC.RegardsPete
