I really do not believe that any casual consumer is firing up FSX today after 4 years and most likely gave up on it a few months after purchase simply because it could not run.
I’d add casual users use default content and are more likely to keep default display settings (ie. optimal quality/load).That experience is a whole lot less frustrating than one that includes add-ons and tweaks.IMO, casual users aren't hurting for the extra performance we do. :(

most gamers want top graphics and performance . not just flight enthusiast.  If you dont believe me, pop onto most any game forum and there will be an several active topics on performance and graphics.  The video card industry lives because of this fact.

AVSIM can be described as a social network of sorts, but it really is a closed network unlike Facebook where anyone could send a friend request to you. Here, it is like minded individuals and companies sharing their love of one thing, FS. Rules here also require members to remain civil, even if some push the envelope a bit, mods do ban those that cross the line, even in anonymity (they are not anonymous to the mods).
I don’t mean to make a case for using Facebook.( still I’d point out FB groups have moderators and so on )A few people posted they have no interest in a social experience...and that is a fair comment. My point is more about how much we already use and depend on a social experience...this one.I have no idea what Flight has in mind for a social component...or if I’ll want to use it.But we are all already dedicated users of a social network. If people are wondering why MS is even exploring this feature…just take a look around you :)
