Some of you are convinced that this is an in game footage. Is there anything in the video that gives it away as a in game footage? I looked at it frame by frame and I can't tell if this isn't an actual real life video!!!! The only thing that looks like an in game picture is the still picture of the original anouncement of Aug. 17th.

There's a little more to it than internet connection types... Perhaps you like being plugged into the matrix, me, I value my freedom and that includes simming when and where I want, not at the mercy of the cloud.Same thing happened with Rise of Flight. In a later patch they came to their senses. I'm guessing MS will not let it come to that.:( As for this new vid, it's cool, but at the same time, it tells us very little. The agony!
Dude .. the hundreds of cookies on your computer already plugs you into the matrix ...   and quick you better toss your mobile phone and credit cards.   You are already so plugged into .. dont become irrational when it comes to a Internet connected game.

Hundreds of cookies on my computer? Don't you ever clean your PC? Or use certain blocking software? Credit card?! I don't believe I have one.:(:(

Folks .. for the FSX release . it was proven that MS used promo videos that didnt come from actual game graphics .... its HIGHLY likely that same is true for the "flight" release.

ya thanks guys ..but i bet 99% of the folks have continuous internet service. So for those guys to complain .... its for sake of complaining.
Not at all. I'm very much against the need for a continuous connection to run anything. It doesn't add anything to the experience, only takes away from it. Like others have said, it may be to battle piracy but at the end of the day the paying customers suffer. I do a LOT of flying while stuck in the middle of nowhere with no connection. It's the whole principle of the thing, it just seems wrong. I bought the software, but it isn't "mine". If it was, I'd be able to run it when and where I like. I also have no use for any of the "online features" that so many games come with these days. That stuff is just an irritating waste of time more often than not.Yes, things are changing and such is life, but this particular change would make things worse and slower for everyone, for no benefit to the user. Also bear in mind that many of us still have fairly slow connections, the likes of which I'm sure Microsoft thought are a thing of the past. This very video, for example, you watch it once, and then I want to go back and watch it again so I move the slider to the start. Now it has to buffer the whole thing again? Why?! It just loaded it. Lots of sites work like this now and it makes life in certain parts of the world very difficult. Window closed. It just seems like many products are being developed with the assumption that everyone has 24/7 fast internet. We don't.

I think the more dangerous assumption here is that Internet connectivity will be required for the use of MS Flight. There's no evidence pointing to this as a requirement.... it would only be needed for the MS Live integrated features.NO EVIDENCE of DRM schemes. NO EVIDENCE or PRECEDENT in the Games for MS Live catalog indicating required Internet connectivity. (MS Live is not Steam)NO EVIDENCE that MS Live will be the exclusive source/store for addons. Take a deep breath, people.

The entire footage is very unconventional to begin with; ie: We've never had a view in which the plane sneaks up on you from behind. Also note that the camera movements look like movement of a smooth hand held video. For example look at the tilting of the camera to the left as it stablizes from trying to catch up with the plane. (right before the airplane starts its banks at 15 seconds mark). Perhaps I don't know what I am talking about, but seems that either they have come up with a whole new view mode or this is not an in game footage.Edit: I just realized that the first video also had a very unconventional camera/view work.

Who cares if it's internet connectivity only... it only hurts the pirates not me the paying customer. I haven't had 1 issue with StarCraft II and their servers get HAMMERED.

Here's my take on the whole MS Flight announcement and Aces' demise. I believe MS had realised that FSX is an utter mistake, poorly coded, and released to the entire general public at a time when nobody's computer could even run it. Aces messed up, ruined the Flight Simulator name and thus they were disbanded.I truly hope and believe that MS Flight will be a quantum leap, taking advantage of all of today's hardware and be released being fully capable of running on the average PC's of a year from now.FSX is a failure on so many levels, and thus Microsoft was forced to drop the 'Flight Simulator' tag in order of not putting off future retail consumers which would have otherwise overlooked another version of FS still keeping in mind how bad their last experience was.I have now decided to not invest any money into FSX, 2 months ago I was preparing to build a new PC specifically for FSX. I am now more convinced than ever that sticking to FS9 is the right move and then immediately moving to MS Flight when it is released. I believe MS Flight will be the Flight Simulator we have all been waiting for. Microsoft has been known to royally screw up however......
