October 5, 201015 yr The latest build of ASE has really created some changed. Gone is Direct Wind Control, and now we have three different Wx generating modes, Standard, Cloud Smooth, and Direct Weather Control.Which build is that? I have ASE but I hear about that for the first time. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
October 5, 201015 yr Author Because ASE does not write all the weather at one time (to avoid causing stutters in FS), and also because FSX takes time to transition the weather from what it was to what ASE asks it to be. This time is adjustable, by program, and I believe ASE sets it to something over 60 seconds. The delay till ASE writes the destination weather (unless it is given your flight plan) will depend on how far away it is. I suspect it won't even send it until you are within 40-60 nm, if even that far. Add to that the "blending" delay in FSX ...On the other side of the coin, even after the correct weather is set, FSX will continue to change it, to develop it. How fast that changes then depends on the changes slider and things like wind speeds, blowing stuff about at cloud levels.I wrote weeks ago to both Damian and Jim in HiFi Simulations (ASE producers) to see if they could provide a way for FSUIPC to read the weather for specific places from ASE rather than from FSX. FSUIPC could then make that choice automatically if it detected ASE. It would also allow ASE's DWC/Global mode to be used with no adverse consequences.Unfortunately neither Damian nor Jim bothered to reply. I'm on holiday now for a couple of weeks. I'll try to remember to chase them up again on my return.RegardsPeteHi Pete,I saw your replies in the ASE forum and hoped they were working with you to sort this issue out. I understand what you are saying above and thats what I always thought, however from my orginal post, you can see that the weather has been written to fsx and all is in sync expect RC4 and that is what has thrown me. Hopefully JD can spot the problem from my log (if he ever gets it :( ).Best wishesSteve Stephen Munn
October 9, 201015 yr POST REMOVED - Problem solvedEDIT - I just managed to get Radar Contact and FSX to agree with each other by using the REX weather engine instead of ASE.I'll stick with that for now...I loaded FSX and the REX weather engine started automatically.I loaded a flight plan in FSX.I started the flight and waited until REX had finished configuring the weather, then I forced it to reload the weather to get the correct winds to show in FSX (shift Z)I started Radar Contact and loaded the flight plan and hey presto.... real weather on screen and in radar contact... finally!FSUIPC Set to smooth wind, supress gusts and variance and add random turbulence (because I like it) Ryzen 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, Windows 11Link to my: Dynamic Flight Dispatch Tool
October 9, 201015 yr Which build is that? I have ASE but I hear about that for the first time.Build 622. HiFi has started a new thing where all the betas are being uploaded and made available to download. The latest one updates to a a form of "SP2" which has the new modes. I have found the new DWC still does created issues with RC, but the new "Standard" mode does a very good job with weather, pressue, temps, and winds (even aloft). Very pleased at the improvements.
