September 13, 200322 yr yep, im a cheapskate I have a family to feed etc. 200$ can best serve other practical uses. This guy gets his stuff from the NSA being from europe? hardly he mostly probably gets it from space imaging or nasa's blue marble project..
September 13, 200322 yr >OUCH. I went and checked the FScene website, and the cost is>25 Euros per region per season >>So to get "more realistic" textures I have to pay over 100>dollars per region to get all for seasons, and to get a>complete set I pay over 200?Couldn't agree more. Moreover this is just a texture replacement - no additional scenery detail is gained. If someone wants to go for Megascenery or the UK photo scenery at least I understand they are getting a whole different outlook on scenery. Michael J. Michael J.
September 13, 200322 yr If it cost $5 per season people'd still complain it was too expensive. That's their loss.FScene costs a tremendous amount of effort to put together. Months of hard work go into each season. We spent a week finetuning just one texture (4 or 5 bitmaps) to get the required effect just right.I agree it's an expensive addon, but most likely (and that was the case with the FS2002 version) you will get a discount if you get additional seasons (with FScene 2002 people got the last season free on purchase of the others for example).
September 13, 200322 yr >>If it cost $5 per season people'd still complain it was too>expensive.>Some people would complain for sure, but that doesn't change anything.Hard work does not mean high value. If that were true, ditch diggers and fence builders would all be millionaires. I'm sure FSCene took a lot of hard work; but in the end the value is determined by the buyer - and I won't be a buyer at the current price level...
September 13, 200322 yr I agree. However sometimes it does come on sale once the full package is released. I,m hoping that will be the case this time.Pesi
September 13, 200322 yr >If it cost $5 per season people'd still complain it was too expensive. These's a hell of a difference between $5 and $25! Lennart Arvidsson's replacement textures are free and I'm sure just as much time and effort went into designing them. Everyone has there limit as to how much they're willing to spend on add-ons. System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
September 13, 200322 yr I think the product is overpirced as well....I would never buy a TV or furniture that cost 4 times more than my house...
September 13, 200322 yr >and I can't help but feel that by slicing the price to 1/4 it's current cost, you would generate 4 times the sales you do now.Nope. Has to do with price elasticity. Lowering the price only *might* increase sales, when considering the circumstances, and the kind of product you sell.Economics really aren't always that simple :-)[p]
September 13, 200322 yr I agree that it is very expensive, but I couldn't resist that the forest textures are improved and that FScene2004 is now compatible with autogen. So taking a deep breath :), I spent 25$ on Canada/USA summer textures alone and, believe it or not, for a simmer who flies mostly in the bush, at treetops, the sim has now an even lovelier face.So yes it is expensive, but then this is one hobby that I like very much, and for me this product has increased my enjoyment of it. I wish it was cheaper though! In all cases, big thanks to Ruud et al for this outstanding product. My two cents :)
September 13, 200322 yr >Er .. cut the cost to a quarter of what it is now and generate>four times the amount of sales. Kinda seems to me a pointless>exercise as far as the developer is concerned :-hmmmWhy would this be pointless? The point he is trying to make is that if it is overpriced, fewer people would buy it. In his simple example, the developer would at least break even. By your logic, if the developer wants to make even more money, he should simply charge more. It doesn't make sense, since eventually it will be priced beyond anyones reach. In the retail-world there's a perfect price point where the low price of an item will be ofset by the volume of buyers attracted to its price."...payware developers just do not make the volume sales to be able to lower their prices."You're right - it's the other way around.- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
