October 13, 201015 yr I tried a search but couldn't get the search description down (3 letters) far enough to get the results I want. Therefore, here is my question: I have a computer that runs only FSX. Can I update to Windows 7 64bit and install Flight Simulator X Deluxe and have it run successfully? Thanks,Sorry,Ron Musick Ron Musick, PP-ASEL-IA AOPA # 00642403
October 13, 201015 yr I run FSX on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Honestly, its probably the best OS to run fsx on.
October 13, 201015 yr Author Thanks for your quick reply "thefsxflyer". What version of FSX are you using? It was my understanding that the Deluxe version may or may not work. Ron Musick, PP-ASEL-IA AOPA # 00642403

October 13, 201015 yr I use win7 x64 and performance wise, for me, there's no difference to vista x64. You'll benefit from a clean system but that's all.If you are coming from XP then you'll have to pay attention to the UAC and permissions as some add-ons require UAC to be turned off before installations - PFE for example, but that's based on OLD software, fixes and work arounds - Most will be OK, but, if you run into problems this will be your first place to look.Chris Farrell Chris Farrell
October 13, 201015 yr It's weird, but having heard, read, and answered questions on the UIAutomationcore.dll subject, I have never experienced it myself and not once tried the fix.Yes, I have never ever in the all the years of FSX being out have I had this error or even tried to fix it. Honestly I don't have any problems with FSX.
October 13, 201015 yr Chris brings up a very good point. Personally I highly recommend installing it a custom directory and outside of both "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" altogether if your starting fresh anyway. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
October 14, 201015 yr Commercial Member Guys,I'd never seen the uiautomationcore.dll issue myself either until I specifically starting testing for it. It's 100% repeatable though once you try - load up FSX, any aircraft and then just sit there pulling down the menus, using the right click context menu etc. Just bring the right click menu up, close it, bring it up, close it etc. After 20-30 cycles of doing this, the sim will black screen and crash. I usually never bring up the menus that many times during a flight and that's why I'd never seen it. The effect of it builds up though, it's tied specifically to the number of times you bring those menus up, so if you're on a long flight and you bring the menu up just once or twice an hour it's enough to eventually crash the sim. A lot of people think they had an OOM error when this happens but it's really the uiautomationcore.dll issue.Placing the Vista 32 version of the dll into the FSX folder completely cured this for me, there's absolutely no reason not to do it.
