October 14, 201015 yr Absoultely agree with the ui dll issue there. I'd also install the DX9 and C++ libraries before thinking of installing FS. - Highmem fix after that of course. If possible run FS on a seperate drive also as it really helps - SSD one if you can as this will be the bottleneck for the system. A fast CPU and a reasonable graphics card will also help a lot also.As for FSX - deluxe, gold, sp2 or accelleration run fine in Windows7 64bit.One other suggestion is to run addons like traffic, weather, etc on a seperate pc and run them accross to the FSX machine if spare.John Ellison
October 14, 201015 yr With Highmemfix and Uiautomationcore.dll fix, there is no excuse to not be using Win7 64. You will get better drivers, better stability, and your OS will be up to date.My system has 5 hard drives. I duel boot two seperate Win 7 Ultimate installations, one for video and my everyday use (and games), and the second is for FSX only, has all the bells and whistles of aero, UAC, turned off. I then have FSX installed on its own drive (seperate from the WIN 7 disk). I still use the same directory structure, so it is installed in a file called Program Files (x86), only so it is easier for me when installing certain updates and new aircraft into the installation. I also use WidePC and Simconnect as much as possible. I have Radar Contact, FS Flight Keeper, FS Commander, all run on my laptop through WindePC and FSUIPC. I then have Active Sky Evolution running on my laptop connected via SimConnect. On the server, I run only FSX (frames externally limited of course), and AI Smooth. When I was demo'ing Avilasofts EFB, I was also running their dataloader program thingy on the server, but the actual graphical EFB program was run on my laptop. I am very much averse to running anything on the FSX machine while simming. If an addon is somehow not able to be run over a network (not sure what this would be), it would make it very hard for me to buy.The biggest improvement for me when I upgraded my FSX installation from Win Xp x64 to Windows 7, was the better nVidia drivers. The drivers for XP can crash easily, escpecially when the GPU gets hot. And once the display driver crashes in XP there is no way for it to recover, unlike in Vista/7. I find it very hard to crash the new nVidia drivers in Windows 7. And then I upgraded to the GTX480, which is nice. October 14, 201015 yr Okay, so I just upgraded from XP Pro (32 bit) to Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and I have seen better frames once I made the switch. Everything seems to be running just fine for me. I have not used the uiautomationcore.dll fix yet because I haven't had any issues. However, I would like to do it to be on the safe side. I never had Vista 32 bit as I moved directly from XP 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit, so how can I get this .dll to copy it into the FSX folder?Chad
October 16, 201015 yr Can anyone tell me where to get the Vista 32 version of the uiautomationcore.dll? Also, is there anything else I should do to ensure FSX runs smoothly on Win 7 64? Thanks!Chad
October 16, 201015 yr I run FSX on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Honestly, its probably the best OS to run fsx on.I second that completely. Best OS, not one single BSOD with 7 and FSX for more than one year now. October 17, 201015 yr Commercial Member I think Win7 is unquestionably the best OS Microsoft has ever made - it's dethroned XP (and 98SE before that) for sure. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
October 17, 201015 yr Sorry I missed the question on the uixxxxxx.dll. The link I had up there actually was just meant for reading about the issue. I just now checked the link for the download and it's not the best, so found this one that Ryan posted a while ago for a direct zip.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/290774-why-might-js41-be-shutting-down-the-pc/page__view__findpost__p__1798251Edit: Well, I just installed it, perhaps its tied into the ENB plugin crap crashing, oh well at this point I'll try anything and like Ryan said, can't hurt. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

I must have the UIautocore fix or my sim crashes when using a menu at random times. With the fix, FSX is rock solid. Add ENB to the mix, and all bets are off. I am starting to think that the ENB is a mod that is build on old tech, and we have found ways to get FSX (old tech) to be tweaked and run in the modern Windows 7 enviornment, that adding ENB (old tech.) just brings out bad things. October 17, 201015 yr Congrats on the move to W764. I had debated earlier this year on the move, but was forced to do it because XP64 and the new NVidia drivers for the 4 series CPUs are basically incompatible (resulting in a BSOD)It was the best move I ever made for FSX, and for everything else I use my PC for. I have attached a link from flightsim guru NickN with some pointers on optimizing FSX for the new OS, its worth a look to help squeeze even more performance and stability (and best of all, all the necessary tweaks and the differences between XP and W7 are explained to the user in one place)http://www.simforums.com/Forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187 A.J.
