April 3, 201115 yr hello superman, i have tried your suggested solution about using the regedit permission changes. However even though i can change the permissions the settings under advanced wont be saved. And i still cant modify FSX in anyway. I cant intsall SP1 and neither can i uninstall FSX.
June 9, 201411 yr I have the same problem! I know its a very old post above but it would be nice if someone could help me:) That okoni link didn not worked for me Thanks
June 9, 201411 yr I have a similar problem. FSX has been working for over a week since I loaded it from a new set of discs, until last night. A sound file that controlled the AI tower communication had stopped working so I inserted disc 1 and initiated a repair sequence. After a few minutes a screen appeared stating the repair was complete and a reboot was necessary. After the reboot I tried to start FSX. All the scenery seemed to load OK and then just short of the main screen a box appeared stating a fatal error had occurred. After a couple more failed attempts I decided to uninstall FSX and do a full reinstall. This time however it never asked me to enter the key code and at the end of the install process the installer froze. I tried running FSX.exe and ended up with the same fatal error so I am now at a loss as to what to do next. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am running Windows 7 Pro on a HP Compac 8200 with an intel quad core processor.
June 9, 201411 yr OK, by accident I discovered that the FSX Acceleration program needed to be uninstalled separately. After that FSX completed the installation and asked for the product key. After typing in the product key it tried to validate the product unsuccessfully stating the web page was unavailable. The FSX Acceleration program won't reload until FSX is validated. I read that microsoft has sold all it's flight sim development to another entity, so am I to assume that they won't continue to validate FSX installations? Is there a work around?
June 9, 201411 yr so am I to assume that they won't continue to validate FSX installations? Is there a work around? Too early to tell. It hasn't even been confirmed and we are already asking about a workaround? No one knows until it is all confirmed. I assume the new entity will upgrade FSX and have their own validation system if rumors are true. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 9, 201411 yr I finally got through to the 800 number listed and successfully validated the installation. After which I reinstalled FSX acceleration successfully. So, even though the web site may not be working you can at least for now validate FSX over the phone. But the original problem remains. When using the AI ATC the text flashes across the screen as before but there is no speech. I can live with that. Everything else is working fine.
June 9, 201411 yr When using the AI ATC the text flashes across the screen as before but there is no speech. I had this problem too; which in my case it was because of the wrong audio device output being set in FSX (I run both an internal audio device and a PCI audio card). Oddly enough FS9 required a different audio device in order to run properly! Mike Mann
June 9, 201411 yr I had this problem too; which in my case it was because of the wrong audio device output being set in FSX (I run both an internal audio device and a PCI audio card). Oddly enough FS9 required a different audio device in order to run properly! I though of that too and selected the only other sound input option to no avail. This only happened after I downloaded a plane that failed to produce any sound at all. But all other planes still produce their normal flying sounds.
June 10, 201411 yr Hello, I can´t install SP1! It says : Key couln´t be opened UKNOWN/Components/long number I also can´t install Acceleration Pack! It says : English version is required! I didn´t needed to activate FSX on my Computer. I already had it installed Maybe it´s becuase i let some Add-Ons on the Computer? Thanks for your help:) Greetings Fabi
June 10, 201411 yr SP1 comes with Acceleration. When installing FSX w/Acceleration, you only need to install FSX Deluxe, run and activate FSX, then install Acceleration, run and activate Acceleration. If you have any version previously installed, you need to fully uninstall it and start over. Here's an excellent guide on how to uninstall/reinstall FSX: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx. Whenever you have an error when trying to install FSX, you need to stop, uninstall or manually remove FSX, run a registry cleaner and try again.
