FS2K2 - who is still using it mainly?

Featured Replies

Im still flying FS2002. I did buy FS2004, but it will not run on my computer (I have a crappy Geforce 2 MX 400 graphic card and only 256 RAM)I do plan on upgrading my computer soon then I will probably make the switch to FS2004. Until til then I have been downloading airport scenery for FS2002 and getting more enjoymnet out of it. (I never downloaded airport scenery for FS2002 until a few weeks ago)

Been running 2004 since the day it came out.. fs2002 was uninstalled.Im actually more happy with the performance on my system then i was with 2002. The way i have it set up now i get about 10fps faster then i did in 2002, and to me it looks just as good or better.Only issue i have is alot of the payware i bought still is not supported.. one by one they are being updated though

Wanted to add that when FS2004 did run on my computer framerates was better than FS2002, my problem was FS2004 kept on locking up on me and it also crashed alot.

Ok GuysI've just come into work and well there are a few responses in this thread.I feel I need to respond to some of them.First I'm not whinging about the product, FS9, it's brilliant especially the clouds, the whole package looks brilliant. I love the new interface etc etc.My problem is I fly mostly VFR around the UK. My present rig just can't display VFR UK to the same quality in FS2004 as in FS2002.Plain and simple as that. We all like to fly the way we like to fly and if your IFR and flying high it really doesn't matter about frame rates and eyecandy. But VFR pilots need to be able to see where they are going and I couldn't. For the first time as far as I'm concerned with the excellent VFR UK Photographic scenery package, I can fly VFR. I have flown from Chester to Cardiff, by following motorways, I've flown over the Brecon Beacons. I have found chalk figures in the hillsides of Wiltshire.Believe me that makes a hell of a difference to the whole experience. So my solution after much thought is to uninstall FS9 put it on my shelf until Christmas time when I will get my kids to buy me some ram and a new graphics card, I will by a new processor and by Boxing Day I'll have the best of both worlds. Till then FS2002 has my heart and soul.Wycliffe

I have both MSFS2k2 and CoF installed but I very very rarely use the latter. I have everything running perfectly in MSFS2K2 but have some annoying problems in CoF (can't use AA since it takes such a heavy toll on the performance, can't get my CH Yoke USE and Pro Pedals to work decently).I'm also a bit too lazy since all the add-ons I have work in MSFS2K2 while I don't KNOW how they work in CoF. Since I'm so satisfied with MSFS2k2 I haven't had the urge to try them out in CoF! :) But I suppose once I do start installing them to CoF and get everything working, I will never look back again! :)/KristerPIV 2,4GHz@ 2.6 GHz 1 GB PC2700 RAM, Gainward GF4 4200 Ultra 128 MB, 21" 828 Hitachi, 15" NEC TFT, IBM 120 GB, 80 GB and 30 GB disks in ATA100 mode.

HiI'm still using 2K2. I must admit that I like the sound of 2K4's ATC, but apart from that, 2K2's just fine for now. I can't be bothered with all that re-installing and patch searching mallarky.Gavin

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

I have both FS2002 and 2004 on a relatively low end machine (AMD 1.0 GHz, 256Mb RAM, TNT-2) and, as you would expect, 2004 runs horribly.I had to make a decision whether to buy a new machine just to play one game (to me it's a game) and decided not to.In FS2002 I went for quality of aircraft, not quantity. I have maybe 50 addon aircraft but each one is highly tweaked. I did the "FS2003" upgrade and transferred the 04 textures to 02. I don't find the improvements in 04 to be as impressive as others do. I don't like the GPS because it takes up too much space. I don't find the ATC improvements to be that great, although that's probably my favorite feature. The historic aircraft are boring.I still have a lot to experience in 02 - I've had it for less than a year.

Good MorningWell as I said last week, I've placed fs2002 back on my machine and I'm in 30fps heaven. And VFR flight over the UK is back to it's stunning beauty.Wycliffe

Still use FS2002 because I have bought add-ons for it that cost a lot of money and are not yet available for FS2004. I think you'll find this mostly the case with other MSFS users.I think FS2004 is a really nice program. The global scenary detail is remarkable, and the default aircraft that were introduced to this edition are the best I've seen from Microsoft. There are minor problems, but on the whole, I'm very impressed and am just waiting for those add-ons to come out so that I can uninstall Fs2002.

Hi, GuysNever throw away a pair of good shoes before you have bought and check out a new pair.So I installed Fs2004 and I remain FS2002 installed.A half year ago I delete FS2000 and and even F98 from my computer because I needed the Harddisk space.I delete the old sims with pain in my heart because you have spend so much time in adding planes, sceneries and all lots of tweakinkSo Fs2002 is still my favourite sim which I used most of the time.Fs2004 is still an "Empty" sim because of the lack of add-onsMy favoured Phoenix 747 and 777 cockpit is not working in FS2004 !!!So I can not use my FMC to fly a flightplan, I hate the default MS 747 and 777 cockpitsTh clouds are very nice in FS2004 but, flying with my favoured cockpit is more important.Further i have some video problems in the full screen mode. The right knob menu is not working as it should. Move windows is also a slow process. So guys, FS2002 will be my favour sim for the time being
