October 22, 201015 yr I am using REX version 2. I had the Overdrive disc sent to me. But I have been reading all of the issues on the REX support board, and I am gun shy about installing it for fear I may [non-techie language: ] ... screw things up royally. Problem is, [at last check] there were about 150 posts from people have issues (more than half of which are marked resolved). Of course I have know way of knowing how many total users there are, and this may reflect only 1/10 or less or, who knows, what percentate of the total users.I have the right service pack installed as directed for the installation. For those of you using these new Overdrive textures ... what has been your installation and performance experiences? Thank you very much, SteveWow, I'm the atypical one I guess, in more ways than one! OD installed fine off the download, the textures were fine though to me not alot different than ones previously available (I tend to stick w/ one that works well and leave it at that anyway), but I had continuous other issues with air pressure always at 30.30, .NET errors upon closing FSX, the weather engine would continuing updating repeatedly at times for no apparent reason. Obviously I had some sort of corrupt install or something, I never found out. Truthfully, didn't want to spend a lot of time troubleshooting so rolled back to REX2, and all of these issues resolved. Perhaps if I pick up the DVD and try again some of these issues will be resolved. Others here apparently really like it, so you have to go with that.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. October 24, 201015 yr Installed OD but the textures would not install (even though it went through the 5-6 minute loading process) and the weather generator was not working. Uninstalled and went back to Rex2 and everything works fine. Windows 7 64-bit here.
October 24, 201015 yr How could you tell the textures would not install? When installing OD textures over the original FSX textures, the cloud files remained 2006 fsx version. After uninstalling and then reinstalling REX2 from scratch and reloading the textures to FSX, the new files dated 2008 appear in the texture folder. Not sure what the issue is, but since original REX2 works fine, sticking with that.
October 25, 201015 yr Interesting, I just noticed that too. Installed it last week but never noticed it wasn't loading my weather defined textures. I hope there is a fix soon.

October 26, 201015 yr just go to your main microsoft flight sim folder, and the texture folder inside of that. Look at the files that have the word cloud in them. With REX2 their date should be the current date you last ran it. Overdrive, it never changed any of those files.

Does that basically mean that none of the Overdrive cloud textures will work until Tim's company publishes a fix?
October 26, 201015 yr That's right. You can uninstall overdrive then see if REX is properly installing textures to your main folder. Otherwise you have to uninstall that, remove all the files left over, and install REX2 again by itself. Until the fix.

And to think, I almost DIDN'T install the Overdrive disc!!I don't know if I can put together all that needs to be re-installed. If I can find my REX 2.0 DVD ... does anyone know how many updates it will take to bring it up to where it should be ready for the Overdrive? I had installed rexfsx_sp3_20090914_TO20100611.exe. Don't know what it took to get it up to 20090914?? If I do without the REX textures for a while and wait for the fix, surely I won't have to reinstall everything. Does that make sense?

Check your About window in REX. If you are at build 0611 then you can install Overdrive. We will be issuing a quick hotfix in the next week that fixes a couple items to OD. October 27, 201015 yr Commercial Member Actually nothing is wrong with OD and the texture install EXCEPT for the weather textures feature... no reason to uninstall at all. Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
October 27, 201015 yr Author Actually nothing is wrong with OD and the texture install EXCEPT for the weather textures feature... no reason to uninstall at all. Thank you ... I AM updated to build 0611. I will make visits to your site to watch for the Hotfix. I don't believe there is automatic notification to e-mail.Also will NOT uninstall. What a relief!! Love your software/textures ... The WeatherEngine is moot for me with ASE. But the textures are wonderful. Looking forward to the fix.
