October 20, 201015 yr I am using REX version 2. I had the Overdrive disc sent to me. But I have been reading all of the issues on the REX support board, and I am gun shy about installing it for fear I may [non-techie language: ] ... screw things up royally. Problem is, [at last check] there were about 150 posts from people have issues (more than half of which are marked resolved). Of course I have know way of knowing how many total users there are, and this may reflect only 1/10 or less or, who knows, what percentate of the total users.I have the right service pack installed as directed for the installation. For those of you using these new Overdrive textures ... what has been your installation and performance experiences? Thank you very much, Steve

Thank you very much, SteveREX OD = SpectacularREX Issues = NoneHappy = NoRidiculously Happy = YesSeriously, I have had zero issues with Overdrive and I see absolutely no performance issues. This is my own personal experience so you can't judge your own experience by me who has no problems or other's who have had problems. The proof of the pudding I'm afraid is in the eating so download it and see for yourself. If worse comes to worse you can always uninstall it.

I'm positive that it is a great program when working correctly with one's particular system. I've been very happy with version 2. I guess its time to roll the dice. One of my hesitations has to do with one post on the Overdrive Tech Support board that indicated a user was having a very challenging time uninstalling it. If I thought I would have NO problems in taking Overdrive down and going back to version two with no issues, I probably wouldn't have posted this thread. Your enthusiasm is heartening.
October 20, 201015 yr For those of you using these new Overdrive textures ... what has been your installation and performance experiences?Steve:No problems here, mate (Win7 64-bit; i7; ATI 4870X2). I actually think that the Overdrive textures run more smoothly (but the REX folks seem reluctant to claim this - your mileage may vary!). Do make sure that you follow the installation instructions to the letter, though.Good luck.Major V
October 20, 201015 yr No issues here, just make sure your REX2 version is at the prescribed version level before installing ODWin7-64bit, i7-920, GTX285
October 20, 201015 yr Commercial Member The only issues I had was getting the thing to install. It took me 3 tries downloading it but finally got it and it works great. Noah Bryant
October 20, 201015 yr I have no issues as well. Downloaded successfully and installed successfully on the first attempt. Just be sure to defrag you comp after you install it. You wont regret installing it. Its a peice of art.
October 20, 201015 yr No issues at all. I didn't even know there could be issues, but I just use REX textures. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
October 20, 201015 yr Author Thank you all for your kindness in replying. I'm ready to take the plunge. I'll report back my experience. Take care and God bless.
October 20, 201015 yr No problems here, always remember as well that support forums for products such as REX will be full of problems, after all that is what the forum is for. I would say that only a very small amount of buyers have any problems, these people would not need to use the forum. October 20, 201015 yr Reinforcing the trend...No issues for me with the download, installation, and usage.
October 20, 201015 yr I only use it to install weather related textures and use Active Sky Evolution for fsx weather but have no problems at all. Everything looks beautiful even on regular texture resolution.
October 20, 201015 yr Author All is Well :( The installation was flawless!! And the fun is only just beginning. The frame hit seems light with the midlevel textures. The overdrive HD clouds are beautiful. I only have a middle of the road E6700 at 3.6 ghz, so only two cores carrying the the load. Thanks for all of the thoughts and input. I can only wish the FSX code allowed for a solid IFR experience. I've never figured that out. But REX certainly provides a wonderful VFR (in and out) and under and over flight environment.
October 20, 201015 yr 80% of the "issues" are actually user illiteracy related (ie. not selecting the right folder when prompted by the installer.)You will not regret it.
