September 26, 200322 yr Does anyone have any information regarding the imminent release of the FS2004 patches for the PSS Dash 8 and A320? It seems the only topics in the PSS forum these days concerns the new A330 / A340 Airbus patches and updates. It's as if the former have taken a back seat. After all the patches were due out by the end of September 2003. This of course was not a promise, but I am very desperate to hear something to keep my anticipation in control...The reason I posted here is because my posts seem to be ignored at the PSS forum and not make it past the moderator.Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
September 26, 200322 yr Unfortunately we are all in the same boat. PSS has consistently said that the patches will be released AFTER the A330/340. *BUT* considering the new Airbus aircraft have pretty much just released, I wouldn't get too anxious. It is still "early" in the sense that they have been out for less than a week. ...the folks at PSS are getting whalloped with issues on the A330/340, and will probably want to get them cured before moving back into the 320 and DHC8. I would wager that your posts are getting squashed because there is no new news to report, and they need to devote the posting space and time to A330/340 probs. -Greg
September 26, 200322 yr Point taken. It's only my opinion but, I know PSS is not obliged to offer a patch for free. The fact of the matter is, they were going to release a patch anyway. But I still believe that CURRENT or EXISTING customers, aka the "Dash 8 and A320 customers", should have been taken care of before the advent of the A330/A340. It's a good practice in any business from a customer relations stand point. September 26, 200322 yr From past experience with PSS they will iron out the major problems with the A330/340 and then get the updates out on the DASH and the smaller "Buses". You have to be patient this stuff takes forever and the bugs are endless as is usual for all software. Good time to work on the yard and get things ready for winter!Tony
September 26, 200322 yr Actuallly I think PSS hurried and released the A-340/330 as a diversion so you would have something to play with and not bug them about the patches. Obviously it looks like it didn't work. ;)
September 27, 200322 yr My only thoughts on this are that I vote with my wallet and I'mno longer voting PSS. They are the only vendor I can think ofthat has put new product development ahead of taking care of theircustomers. Its too bad because I like the PSS products. I just don'tlike thier business model.Don Leuenberger
September 27, 200322 yr I dont like their purchasing system. The liveries are expensive and some of them arent even that good, and they dont show any decent screenshots of them so you dont know whether your getting a good one or not.
September 27, 200322 yr I would have to agree with you a bit...I am a longtime fan of PSS and have pretty much purchased all of their aircraft. I purchased the A330 and A340 and while they are nice airplanes, they really aren't much of a leap forward from the A320 that I learned to enjoy so much in FS2002. The systems management and FMC are pretty much not changed at all. And besides, they were obviously released too early without complete beta testing. The 10 NU attitude on a managed approach at a reasonable landing weight is a clear example of an FDE that was not even close to being release ready. To this date I can't get the A340 to run at all really on my fairly high end system. Many, many folks are seeing dramatic frame rate problems that can't really be explained. The forum is getting hammered because there are a lot of bugs which is surprising since the aircraft is not really a leap forward from the FS2002 bus. The cynic in me says that PSS rushed these out because if they patched the A320 first people would be happy to fly that aircraft in FS2004 and it would reduce their sales in the A330/340. I know the line of "were not obligated to patch our products forever" by most payware developers is common and there is validity to it, but the market standard from most is that most add-ons work with a minimum of two FS generations, at least that's what most customers have come to expect.PSS will no doubt patch the Dash 8 and A310/320 for FS2004 and work the bugs out of the A330/340, but they certainly have dropped a few notches in this loyal consumers eyes...regards,
September 28, 200322 yr I'm just wondering since the A330/340 panels are basically the same as the A320, can we just edit the panel.cfg file of the A320 and replace the old A320 gauges with the new A330/340 gauges??? The only problem I see with that is you still don't get an interactive autopilot nor a usable upper panel. Ooh Well, here's one more person waiting impatiently for the A320 patch...
