Sound troubles with all my PMDG planes

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,For some reason, in the last week or so,I have only been able to get directional sound of some sort from PMDG planes. For instance; when i am looking forward in the Virtual cockpit I dont get any engines sounds at all, however, if i pan around the cockpit I will get engines sounds left and right respectivly when I move my head. this is particualry so in the Jetsream. In the MD11, I am no longer able to hear the engine spool up at start and again no engine sounds while lookng straight ahead. I did download the Windows Vista Patch and install at about the same time this started and my sound device is the RealTek HD audio Manager. This is making flyng very difficult and am hoping someone can help me fix this soon. I have a similiar problem with other planes but it is more pronounced in PMDG planes.Regards,Nicholas Boskovic

Hi Nicholas, Glad you listed so much detail. So many people looking for help don't think anyone needs such info like "FSX crashing please help" haha.Anyway, the issue as you described is most likely because after windows updates or new drivers etc... sometime the FSX output device gets reset and you may only hear one channel. Check your FS Sound settings and make sure your seeing the correct drop down choice for your hardware. There are a couple other things it might be, but that seems like it's your issue. Let me know.

Hey there Nicolas, I too have the RealTek HD Audio Manager and installed a patch for it at the dell website's download section. If you have already installed the patch, I would be sure to set the Sample audio quality to 44100 (CD Quality). Hope that helps. BTW, If you do not use Dell but still have that Audio Driver fom RealTek, then go to the respective website and download any new updates for it. :(

It almost sounds like out of phase speakers. If L and R are equal and out of phase they will cancel. That can happen also when mono is output on two out of phase channels. See if the new utility has any phase adjustments for output. If it synthesizes surround or 5.1 try with that off.

Thanks Gents,I will try all of the above and report back to let you how it goes soon.In the meantime, Thanks.Nicholas Boskovic

Hi Nicholas,It is also possible that installing new software has added new features to your sound card like reverb effects or voice cancellation effects - try to turn off any such effects via your unique sound card control panel. Also open up the full Realtec audio mixer and see if there are sound sliders which have been added which were not there before - turn off any sound sliders that are not necessary. Also - I presume you are running stereo speakers - it may be possible after the driver update you are in surround mode now - either turn that off or make sure that the output jacks which connect to your speakers are not using some of the surround outputs instead of the standard stereo outputs.Hope that helps!Armen

Hi guys,Well my mother who is visiting from abroad was using my computer and she broke it. I have since taken it to a PC shop and had it fixed, new hardrive and fresh install of the OS and some minor upgrades, so my initial problem has been fixed by default. The problem now is I have to get new downloads links for all my PMDG aircraft. Talk about Murphy's Law!!Thanks to all that helped me.Nicholas Boskovic
