Just got my trackIR....feel like i just got off the tilt-o-whirl
I totally 100% agree with you. You are missing out on alot without Track-IR. If i dd not have it (track-ir) id probably quit flightsim altogether.Sort out a good profile and you will be fine.Cheers,Nicholas Boskovic

Route off-set format NGX
Hi Guys,Long time no see. Well I have been having some great fun flying around with the Vatpac world flight crew in the last few days. On the flight from Jakarta to Bangalore, the airways were crowded and I was asked to fly a left 10nm off-set on my filed route. Fortunately for that leg i was in the PMDG MD11 and had no problem sorting that out. Neverthless, last night I flew the leg from Seville to Lajes in the Azores and again the route was crowded. I was not asked to set up an off-set from ATC but, in the back of the mind I was kind of anticipating it, so I was exploring the FMC and found the Off-set key on the route page, but once opening it I was not sure of the format for entering it.Would someone please provide me a simple example of a correct format for setting up an off-set for the NGX? Thanks. This online event was a blast and last night most pilots had to enter holds at two waypoints during approach and many also were instructed to execute go-arounds on short final. Fortunately for me, I was lucky and did not have to go around. One poor guy flying for JAL had to go-around three times before he made it down!!Anyways, if someone can help me out with the above that would be great and also come along and join us on some of the world flight legs. They are currently crossing the Atlantic from Ghana to Brazil!Cheers,Nicholas Boskovic

Whats your 5 favorite Airports in Europa!
Hi, I am going to base my answers on the frequency and quality of the VATSIM ATC folks and my enjoyment of flying into these airports. EDDMLGAVLOWWESSAEGGK This is also based on the fact that I am living in Japan, so at the times that i fly, (11pm - 2am japanese time) these stations are often online. On Vatsim my callsign is always (something21) eg: QFA21. and I would like to send a thanks out to the Vatsim controllers who may be reading this, who make my hobby so much fun and rewarding. Cheers, NicholasB

Any one running 3 monitors...How's performance?
I am using eyefinity across three 24" inch monitors. For me performance has been excellent, which was a pleasant surprise. In the past I would have a small spot plane view open as well, but I am no longer doing this to increase performance, and I am finding that I am starting to prefer this too. The only time i do see a hit in performance is when i am around a major airport like YSSY or Tokyo Handeda for example. But overall I am pretty happy. I have had a couple of freezes, which is not really performance related, however, I found a temp work around for this until a comprehensive patch comes out. At the same time i always use real weather with REX, Track ir and alot of Orbix scenery. I realy cant say that I have found any drawbacks with the eyefinity system, but as you may know and as many others say too, FSX is all about your CPU power. Ill post a few screen pics too, to give you an idea of how good it looks. It realy is worth the investment. Besides monitors are becoming so cheap these days. Cheers, NicholasB

Problem with NGX freezing during FMC setup
I have found that was triggers the freeze for me is 2 things. First, since I have three monitors connected I click the Nav display and PFD to resize them to something suitable (otherwise they are stretched across my screen). secondly, when I turn the nav display to "plan mode" then use the step function in the FMC CDU to review my route I get the freeze. I can make this happen everytime by doing the above. Just thought I'd mention this, so PMDG can make a note of an exact procedure that produces this freeze (my case anyway). Any news on a comprehensive serivce pack coming up? Cheers, Nicholas Boskovic

V-REF speeds. What am I doing wrong?
indicated airspeed is set in the FSX options bar in the fsx game menu, so I assume that is not the problem. Lasse, when you say SFP do you mean "special field performance package"? if so, I'm not sure if the aircraft is configured as such or not. Still hoping for a definitive answer for this. Any of the PMDG boys can chip in here? Thanks, Nicholas Boskovic

V-REF speeds. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Henri, Yes I am using the values on the approach page from the FMC CDU then i select the v-ref speed, in the scratch pad from the value depicted next to flaps 30 and then insert that in the blank space below on the same page. that value is also then depicted on my PFD. I am at a loss. Thanks,NIck

V-REF speeds. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Folks, I am finding that the NGX does not seem to like the calculated V-REF speeds from the FMC CDU. I will try to illustrate what I mean, however, I am sure I am the one at fault. Lets say that the recomended V-REF speed for flap setting 30 as depicted in the CDU is: 139 knots. I get myself fully configured in flap 30 and maintain the 139 knots as required. Nevertheless, this combination of flaps 30 and 139 knots always has the aircraft in a nose down pitch in what seems like is going to be a nose wheel first touchdown. In fact regardless of what the recomended V-REF speed is, the aircraft is always nose pitch down for short final. I have found that a speed that is between 5-10 knots slower than the calculated (FMC) V-REF speed produces the best and smoothest touchdown and gentle flare. In another experiment I maintained the advised V-REF speed (lets say 139 knots again) right until the very last moment before I put the power levers to idle, hoping the speed would again bleed of nicely during the flare, yet I Found by doing so that the aircraft would gain a little altitude due to pitch and the 139 knots which seemed to be to fast for a smooth touchdown. The aircraft would not hit tera firma untill the speed was at about 125 knots. So repeating the above, I have found that if I V-app at 130 knots instead of the suggested 139 knots I have a much better and what appears to be safer landing. I have studied these landings allot in replay comparing the different speeds and my conclusion ( I am mistaken i"m sure) is the the NGX seems to prefer slower V_ app and V-ref speeds that what is advised in the FMC. What am I doing wrong here? I have performed trials in both full autoland and manual and the result is the same each time. Also for these expirements I have been using only the default fair weather conditions in FSX and using the active runways. so calm winds I would really love for someone to clear this up for me and help a fellow sim pilot out. Many Thanks, Nicholas Boskovic P.S I hope the above makes sense!!

Wide screen mode with 3 monitors (aspect skewed)
Hi Andrew, I am using the AMD ATI HD 6900 eyefinity series video card to drive my monitors. The resolution is 5860 x 1080. I did not stretch the image, but it still does appear distorted on the left and right monitor. Hope this helps.Nicholas Boskovic

Wide screen mode with 3 monitors (aspect skewed)
Hi Guys, Really enjoying the new NGX and have lashed out on some new orbx scenery. Anyway, as the title states I am using three monitors, however, the left and right monitors have a slightly distorted view. Seems like the scenery and the panel on left and right are stretched a bit. I would love to be able view all monitors in the same detail as my center monitor. Would this have something to do with the Vertical sync fix (I don't have it applied) and are there any other members or PMDG staff that have any ideas or advice to offer in this regard? Do those who have a multi monitor set-up experience similiar issue? Many Thanks in Advance. NicholasB

Replays not properly working with NGX
I posted the thread about replays problems. I took TABS and another members advice and downloaded FS recorder. The latest BETA works fine for me. The only thing I can think of that may help is: when instaliing FS recorder create its own folder first in your C drive root directory and then install it into the folder you just created. I noticed if you dont browse for a location on your own, the program will be installed in to the "program files" folder by default. As alot of us know the "program files" folder with all of its protections causes many problems for us sim lovers! Hope this helps. Nicholas Boskovic

Fantastic first flight. A very small problem. Replay problem. Advice?
Hi Gang and PMDG, Firstly, thanks for another superb product. I enjoyed a great flight from YSSY (Sydney Australia) to YBBN (Brisbane Australia) The aircraft behaved as it should and everything went perfectly. Love the VC, super sound set and the FMC short cuts for fuel loading etc. To Those other pilots out there I really do reccomend reading the tutorial flight. You will save yourself allot of time and drama. Nevertheless, I have a very small issue I need some help/advice with. During the replay (which many of us enjoy to watch) the airplane's spoilers remain deployed, the reverse thrust animations are not visible, the engine fan blades don't move and the wing flex is gone. Watching the airplane in any outside view, ie: tower, spot plane and wing view the aircraft animations are frozen. It may seem petty, but this is pretty important for me. LOL. I have done all the reccomended tweaks in the intro and have a high end system. I am not having any performance issues. Furthermore I have never had this issue with any other PMDG bird, and I own most of them. Are any others having the same problem? and can someone from the forum or PMDG give me some advice to fix this please. Once again, thanks to a PMDG for a great product. Thanks in advance. 42 inch sharp Aquos LCD television and the NGX
Hi All, thanks for the input, I will try and post a pic once everything is all set up. I am happy that it seems i can run the TV well. there have been no comments regarding the other hardware i am intending to buy, so I assume those specs should give a great FSX/PMDG experience. Natrualy I will be running other programs like REX and Orbx scenery, so there may well be a performance hit. Should i go for the next level up CPU and Graphics card? or it sounds fine. I'll also have to remember to have breaks and refresh my eyes from time to time.I am also planing to (if i can figure it out) to run REX, Sqauckbox etc from my current machine and network it with the new rig. I have alot of studying to do! I assume ill need fSUIPIC wide to do this right?Regards,Nicholas Boskovic

42 inch sharp Aquos LCD television and the NGX
Thanks for that info Rob. I had a look at the link, and it really looks likes a great deal. The problem for me is that i live in Japan, so A: they probably will not sell to me, :( i will have to pay alot for shipping and Tax duties on the Japan end and finally I have no idea on how to build a PC. I asked my PC guy here in Japan about those Sandy Bridge CPU's and he said the new MOBOS wont be available in Japan untill May-June Period.I wish there was a member or 2 here in Japan that i could team up with for this project. Id be very happy to shout a few beers at my local pub for some help, however....In regards to the other specs listed what do you guys think? When getting a qoute, i tried my best to emulate similiar specs to what Ryan has on his signiture, but he being in the know, probably knows exactly what to do in order to get best performance out of his gear. So for a computer skill limited person like me, i thought it might be a bit safer to have slightly more powerful base products and try and tue them up from there with my limited PC skills.Anyway guys thanks and it looks like my 42 inch Tv is doable for a display.. whoa!!More tips/advice highly regarded.Nicholas Boskovic

42 inch sharp Aquos LCD television and the NGX
Hi Guys,Like most people here I am preparing myself for the NGX coming soon. I have a spare television; a full HD sharp aquos 42 inch LCD only 2 years old and has HDMI outputs. I was thinking i might be able to set it up for the display for my new PC and the NGX instead of regular type monitors. So my question is, for those in the know, Will I be able to get smooth frames and a good resolution for a display device of that size and what would i need in terms of hardware to make it happen. perhaps this is a crazy idea, but i thought id get some expert advice first.I am going to have a new PC built and the basic specs are as below. I have not ordered anything yet, so this is just a rough guide as to what im thinking to get. Any suggestions, advice etc., will be sincerely appreciated. The proposed rig:Core i7-870 to be over clocked to 4.0 GHz or a little more if safe. I wont OC myself the computer guy will do it for me. ( I am hopless with this kind of stuff.Asus P7P55D-E LX MotherboardCorsiar CWCH70 coolerreal Power M1000 power supply unit PSUHAF912 caseCetus DCDDR3-4GB-16000C x2 pieces total 8GB RAMGTX570 Video cardLG DVD-Multi DriveHitachi 1TB hard drive.Windows 7 Home premium 64bitI am also thinking about Solid state drives for the OS 80gb and another Solid state Drive for FSX and addons etc @ 120GB. I have read that these SSD seem to be the way to go for FSX. nevertheless two of those will add about $500 to the bill. Any opinions here? or would i be wasting my money in this regard? The price for the above set up, not including the Solid State Drives is 202,860 Japanese Yen. Which works out to about US$2000, Would this be enough to run a big TV and enjoy the PMDG products? I am prepared to pay Max about US$3000. for a good FSX PMDG rig. If I need to upgrade any of the above specs, where is the money best spent? Many Thanks and sorry for another "New PC" post.Cheers,Nicholas Boskovic
