November 10, 201114 yr def a cool gadget ... Was using it for about 30 mins and I started to get that nauseous feeling so clearly i need to adjust the TIR profile but not sure in which direction i need to tweak it. I'm using the default profile with a single 26" about 2.5ft away.If anyone has any good profile setting suggestions..will keep airsick bags handy meantime.thanks steve d Win7 Ultimate x64 i7-2600k @4.8GHz Asus Sabertooth P67 Mushkin Redline 8GB EVGA GTX 570 SC Corsair Force GT 240GB SSD CoolerMaster SilentPro 1000W PS PMDG737NGX, PMDG747-400, REX2.0, GEX, UTX, MyTrafficX, EzDok
November 10, 201114 yr Steve,TrackIr site has some profiles also. Are you moving your head "slow....ly and just 1/8th of an inch at a time?I only use it during rest periods ... taxi, climb, cruise, descent, gate arrival.I use EZdok for the 2D preflight, takeoff, approach, landing.Otherwise I cannot click/rotate dials etc accurately while scanning instruments and the outside view. November 10, 201114 yr Do a search for the "Seth flight" profile & use it as a starting point Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64

November 10, 201114 yr Thats why I tried it and sold it 2 weeks later. Now if they come out with a retina scanner I may reconsider. Realisticly your head doesn't move around that extreme. few beers and TrackIr=Vomit tank :)It's all a matter of having a tiny bit of patience to set it up properly and getting used to it. Trust me, all of us who use TrackIR on every single flight and who even program the FMC in the virtual cockpit without disabling it or using the 2D panel are having a blast and no problems whatsoever. In fact I could never ever fly without it again. You missed out big time, let me tell you.

Realisticly your head doesn't move around that extreme. few beers and TrackIr=Vomit tank :)I always find it funny when I hear stories like that.Just turn the sensitivity down and switch the smoothing on. Why people take it out of the box try the default settings then send it back is beyond me. Rob Prest
November 10, 201114 yr Seth flight is the way to go.Stick with it and find the comfort level for when you want to use it. The "PAUSE" button is your friend.....I suggest changing the default to the numberpad plus so that it is easy to find.I use EZDok to look at panels in the setup phase of the flight. I go to live TrackIR for taxi, takeoff and then pause once I hit the A/P on and go back to EZDok. I then reingage as needed in flight but for sure put TIR back on once lined up for landing and taxi to the gate. This minimizes the dizziness and works great when you really do need to look around.Mark. Mark CYYZ
November 10, 201114 yr Steve,Make sure you assign click buttons for the FMC,OH,MCP and centerpedestal as well as throttle quadrant. Next turn OFF all the DHM and head shake movements for these views so that you can have a steady view while clicking with the mouse. Only use the the DHM and other shake effects for the pilot and copilot views as those are the ones that matter when you take off, land etc and want to experince those effects. Don't forget to press F7 to make things smoother and more precise. I have a Saitek yoke and throttle and have assigned the thumb pan toggle switch such that when I toggle left, I get the pilot view(with head shake),toggle right, copilot view with headshake, toggle forward for OH panel(No head shake),toggle down, FMC(no head shake) and all this is done in the VC. I have other buttons I use to get the pedestal and TQ views as well.I do all my preflight with these rock steady views and use the mouse quite easily. I also set the MCP view with no head shake so that I can change the altitude, speed, VNAV etc without having to keep my pointer steady while dealing with head shake. Finally, use the PTP button for ALL your in VC views and you will find that you "float" smoothly from one preset VC view to the other. Hope this helps. I wouldn't fly without it now.Alex Chung
November 10, 201114 yr Yeah, TrackIR makes me sick too in the 3D. Try it in the 2D - it is better. Ther maon panel stays the same and only the stuff (scenery) in the window changes. You won't hurl your cookies then. Paul Gugliotta

And in EZdok is it important to have the "True view" disabled in the TIR software?btw, my views from the hatswitch were almost identical to your setup but once i installed TIR they got all screwed up...need to check that manual steve d Win7 Ultimate x64 i7-2600k @4.8GHz Asus Sabertooth P67 Mushkin Redline 8GB EVGA GTX 570 SC Corsair Force GT 240GB SSD CoolerMaster SilentPro 1000W PS PMDG737NGX, PMDG747-400, REX2.0, GEX, UTX, MyTrafficX, EzDok

I believe it is important to have True view disabled when using TIR but double check with the set up instructions in EZDok.Alex Chung
November 11, 201114 yr I had the same experience when I first starting using Track IR. You will get used to it.Can anybody tell me if it's worth upgrading from Track Ir 4 to track Ir 5? Steve Giblin
November 11, 201114 yr Steve,Do you have TIr vector expansion? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
