October 26, 201015 yr Is there any good addons to enhance the atc for fsx? Also any other good enhancer addons (except Rex I got that)? Dylan Leonard
October 26, 201015 yr Hi Dylan, Check out this thread here:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/266356-what-addons-do-you-have/page__p__1664820__hl__what__fromsearch__1#entry1664820A ton of people listed their addons and I did as well. The one thing though that I would change is my take on RC4. I'm currently using and enjoying it for the most part. I still have a few issues but most come from my lack of real world knowledge of ATC operations. The more I learn though, the more I like it and the voices are much better now then I remember when I first used it. I also love that they have a ton of tutorials that I hope to find some time to check out later this evening. I have added a ton of addons since that post but mostly airports which I don't see qualifying as an addon in your question anyway. The latest addon that I really like but has a learning curve is EZCA otherwise know as EZdoc. It's a camera type of addon but also adds great effects like you might experience when taking off, the landing jolt, as well as turbulence. Very cool I think and still learning how to maximize my use of it.Check out that other thread, I think I'll do a new one in a few months or will at least update it with a couple others that I have.Edit: My current favorite enhancer type of addon is free and you probably already use it, it's the ENB pluggin with the ORBX profiles. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
October 29, 201015 yr Commercial Member I'll second the VATSIM comment (never been on IVAO, so I can't judge that one). The best ATC add-on you can have is a good controller online. You can't beat it. The best version of said online controller would be when you can get him into non-standard operations and he does well. I'm not talking about emeregencies here, rather, full approaches, flights to/from non-towered fields and the like. I say no emergencies because they are somewhat discouraged on VATSIM, depending on the person - this is not my view, however, so if you see me on bring them on. A good way to check who is online is with a program dedicated to that function - VATSpy, ServInfo or the like. If you don't want to download a program, VATSIM.net has a page dedicated to showing who is online.I control from time to time at airports/facilities within the ZDC airspace (most often Washington Center or Potomac Approach - KIAD/KDCA/KBWI), so if you see me on, load up at an airport and fly in or out. Better yet, fly a general aviation route within the airspace (if you don't know where the controller's airspace lies, ask them). If you can find a controller who doesn't mind working general aviation flights and non-towered fields, he or she generally knows how to handle most situations accurately, when compared to the real world operations (within the limitations of the simulator). Flying a short route in the controller's airspace ensures coverage across the route and gives more work to both you and the controller. The controller gets to practice more diverse operations and you get to practice working with ATC from start to finish. There is somewhat of an odd alignment within VATSIM, though. Basically, when you start out as a controller, they generally keep you to the lesser-used fields so you can get used to controlling at a slower pace, and as you progress you get to larger fields/facilities. Because of this, the better (or more seasoned) controllers are usually at faster-paced, more difficult fields, which generally attract more traffic. Here's the problem: when you first log on as a pilot and are still getting used to the VATSIM concept, you should stick to slower fields, or times when the controller isn't super busy. The reason for this is two-fold: when a controller is busy, he needs each pilot to be on top of his game to listen, execute and respond (note the order: listen, execute, then respond - this goes hand-in-hand with the aviate, navigate and then communicate concept) quickly so that he can work traffic correctly, which may initially be above your lever; the second reason being that if the controller is not so busy, he has more time to offer you some help in how to fly and work within the ATC system correctly. So, if you have VATSpy (or something similar), look for controllers with ratings of C1 or higher (I1, I3 or SUP, especially). This isn't to say S1s or S3s don't know anything - many of them are great controllers - but to get up to C1 you're generally somewhat knowledgeable and dedicated to knowing how to control, and can generally offer a better experience. If you have any questions, PM here, or catch me online in VATSIM.Kyle Kyle Rodgers
October 29, 201015 yr I can't disagree with any of that. Unless you know the procedures (and can fly them without an FMC) like the back of your hand it's best to stay away from large international airports on busy evenings and weekends. You'll just be lost and have an irritated controller on the other end of the mic.I can just see every pilot on the frequency roll their eyes when someone with no time ventures into Atlanta or New York down one of the STARS on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon with 30 or 40 other heavy transport aircraft. It's even worse overseas for places like London and Munich.
October 29, 201015 yr Is there any good addons to enhance the atc for fsx? I am surprised that no one gave you simple answer to simple question.Besides the already mentioned VTASIM there is Radar Contact and VOXATC, both excellent ATC programs. Michael J.

I just added REX to my list of add-ons. I just had to after reading your post. I was trying to hold off until I upgraded this rig, but currently it seems to hold it's own.
