Trouble at PMDG E-commerce shop

Featured Replies

To whom it may concern at PMDG,Unfortunately, a family member broke my computer and I have had to have it repaired, Nevertheless, my hard drive was wriiten off and I have lost all my data including my PMDG aircraft, those being the 747X, MD11 and JS41. So natrualy, I am keen to re-download those planes.Aware of the routine I went to the PMDG website, logged into my account and tried to purchse three extended download services for the above aircraft. I check my basket contents and the page confirms that the above three items are in my shopping basket, then when I click the "go to checkout" icon to confirm and pay for the purchase, a pages loads saying that my shopping basket is empty. I tried this several times with the same result. After this, I registered with the new PMDG service portal and submitted a ticket regarding this problem. I clicked the submit button for the ticket and this too seemed to fail. Suspecting something may be wrong there too, I have been monitoring my email closely, hoping I may receive a reply from PMDG, but still nothing, so, I can only assume my ticket submission failed and my last resort is to bring this matter to your attention here on the forum.I am looking for someone to help me solve this problem and get me back in the sky as soon as possible. I have records for all my purchases from PMDG as proof of purchase and this is also detailed in my user account for the PMDG website. On another note, I have always had difficulty purchasing from PMDG. For some reason there always seems to be a problem at your e-commerce shop. Initialy I thought this may have to do with my computer settings, but it cannot be so, as I have had three different computers over the years of my patronage to PMDG and have always had problems trying to buy products from you. Have others had similiar issues?Maybe it is just me, but I feel there must be a more efficient way to manage your e-commerce shop. For example the "flightone wrapper" is perfect , efficient and easy to use.Anyway, I am not realy complaing, but instead looking for some urgent help with this matter. Thanks in Advance,Nicholas Boskovic

Which browser are you using? Try Internet explorer. Some people have had the same issue as you in Firefox and google Chrome, for most people it helped with IE, so try that first smile.gif

Actually in this case IE most likely is the problem. I've used Chrome as my main browser for well over a year now and I never have any problems... IE is largely junk, it doesn't support a lot of web standard stuff. IE9 may be better on this front when it's released, but we'll see.Nicholas, I just replied to your ticket...

Hi Ryan, thank you for correcting me :D I totally agree that IE is mostly junk (I design websites, so trust me I know). Just know it solved the problem for some firefox users. I myself also use Chrome :)

When this problem occurs with IE you have to clear your cache and everything should work fine. I had this problem too.

Can you guys who were having the problem with IE try again and see if it works? We made some changes to the site today that should deal with this problem. (freaking IE, I swear) Clearing the cache doesn't always fix this particular problem btw Bill, I can't explain how, but I've seen it persist through clearing it.

Gents-Following up on Ryan's post:We are going to continue working this issue until we find a resolution. It impacts a small number of you- but obviously we would prefer that the entire experience be hassle free...NOW.... While we are on the topic:I know some folks get annoyed with Ryan for being "Ye Olde Wielder of Ye Big Sticke" to enforce forum rules and guidelines- but at risk of singling him out for a public shaming- I think it is worth pointing out a function that Ryan plays that 95% of you likely know nothing about:When we hired Ryan five years ago- his role was to help keep the forum under control- but also to be a "Customer Advocate" to help us not overlook the things that sometimes get in the way of customers truly enjoying their PMDG product experience. (I learned this fancy "Customer Advocate" term in a training class while in management at Big Bad Airline...)Since putting him on the payroll five years ago, there have been any number of occasions where I have considered my own sanity in having done so. After all, Ryan takes very seriously his mission to improve the PMDG customer experience. When we get bogged down in a heavy development cycle, it is easy for us to lose site of the fact that some little issue here or there is causing friction for you, our customer.Knowing this, Ryan has become exceptionally adept at getting resources of time, money and attention brought to areas where you need them. For example:1) Download dependability: Ryan pushed this in 2006/2007 until I finally brought in a professional server management team to improve our entire network infrastructure.2) Customer Support Usability: Ryan worked to keep the email/communication problems between customers and tech support in my field of vision, ultimately resulting in the implementation of our web based support mechanism.3) Customer Support Response Times: There is one queue in support that I am responsible for. If I let it go (Which I am known to do) Ryan will (in a not so subtle fashion) make certain that I get in gear and get those customer question answered. (Paul is particularly good at this also... They must be working like one of those wrestling tag-teams.)4) Issues affecting small numbers of customers in each product line: Ryan will make certain that not one CTD, installer failure trend, or botched livery installer survives without my being constantly aware of the impact it is having on customers.5) This latest "whatever it is" on the ecommerce suite: Ryan has been badgering me on this for so long that I finally gave him some developer time in order to research it in greater depth and start looking at test solutions...Now- to keep things in perspective- we are deeper and busier in the development cycle than we have been in more than five years. Most of the key development team is working 18hrs a day, 7 days a week to get the NGX wrapped up and released.... The *LAST* thing I feel like doing is taking time away from our primary task (And taking a developer's time away from our primary task) to focus on something that isn't directly related to the NGX...But somehow Ryan manages to get these tasks taken care of on behalf of all of you...So next time you feel like squaring off on him for enforcing the rules- please remember that while the rest of this development team is in the deep end of the pool with our latest development project- Ryan is behind me pushing, prodding, poking, nagging, cajoling and at times being downright annoying- to be certain that any potential annoyance for YOU, our customer- is constantly in my prioritization process....Funny... Ryan is probably the only person on the team who's job performance improves by annoying me. :( So anyway- many of the little things that go on behind the scenes... Interesting, aren't they?
