737 CFM56 sound question

Featured Replies

It can be heard on the NG's, although its a bit more "refined", usually as the engines accelerate from idle to 40% (it may be different but thats the only power setting i've heard the engines accelerate from idle either to start taxi or at the start of the takeoff roll) as they get above 38% ish the noise abates and the whining noise comes through, then you hit the gogo button and they really start to scream! Lovely sounds from the flightdeck, cabin and even outside. Tawanda

If I heard that on any aircraft I was flying on I'd wanna get off ;) seriously tho the CFM56 is equipped on many types. I fly on the A320 and 330 a lot for business, both aircraft types in the airlines fleet use a varient of the CFM56, however I always book a seat in front of the engines as the sound is amazing from that angle. Maybe that's why I've never heard it.
*******! Thats the best seat! I love the spool up of NGs!!!!

Watching that video, and hearing the flaps retract sound, makes me wish that FSX had the ability to playback such sounds when you are in the cabin/wing view. It would be neat if the Microsoft Flight has that sound feature, where an addon developer can have sounds like the flaps or the Airbus's characteristic hydraulic pumps sounds heard only in the cabin/wing or outside views, and absent in the cockpit.

TSS doesn't have the ability to do what's impossible with the way the FS camera system works... The post you replied to asked for a separate soundset from the cabin/wingview that has internal flap sounds. That's not really possible because FSX only gives you one internal soundset to work with.
