Hi all, how are y'all doing? My wife decided on a really nice bithday present for me,so my gaming rig is now equipped with a Core2 Quad Q96503 GHz processor, up from a Q8200/2.4 GHZ.Win7 now starts 50% faster and even better:For the first time, it is possible to crank the scenery sliderin FSX all the way up - with no drop in fra rate! Andthat is with a complex aircraft, FSX Concorde.BRGDSSven

Sven, wonderful news! (Remember your trying FSX at its debut at AVSIM's Dulles conference--on Microsoft's own machines--and your reaction to the dismal frame rates. Good to have success this year, at last.)Mike

Hi MikeWell, I'm not dropping FS9 just yet!I may be that I'm able to turn everything up to max,but in my view, FS9 is still superior to FSX in many ways -except maybe in the eyecandy business :)BRGDSSven

Sounds like a nice upgrade. How Much RAM and what Graphics Card? I need more RAM and Win 7 64 bit.Still OS 9 here because I don't have the $$ to invest in add ons.

Hi BuzzWell, 'only' 4GB RAM (that might change :)), but the graphicscard is ATI 4870X2 - which still after 2 years is holding itsown in the graphics card hierarcy...BRGDSSven

Sven - Congrats on the new system! I too took the plunge & got myself a new system. .. HAPPY AS CAN BE!Old system-ECS K7s5a MoboAMD XP1800+ @ 1.53 ghz1 gig memoryGeForce 64meg AGPGeForce 256meg FX5500 pciDiamond 16 meg pci3 tube monitors 2-21" 1-15"MS Force Feedback I <--- BUMMER That this isn't supported at all after WIN XP -- Damn you MS!!WIN XP SP2It was built in 2001 to get ready for FS02. It gave me 9 years of no headache service until this past August then,,,, KAPLOOEY! Either the Mobo or the CPU went bad.. Just no way to upgrade stuff that old. Performace for FS02 wasn't bad, FS04 was a little sketchy, with most sliders @ 1/4 could only get 19 frames max, no 3d clouds etc.. Online flying with you guys showing up on MP brought it to a crawl on approach! 5-6 frames. Lucky I didn't crash on every landing! So the new system, had it about a month now. It took about a month to shop, compare $ per performace per budget etc... Asus M4A87TD EVO, AMD 870 chipsetAMD 965 Black edition @ 3.4 ghz 4 core ( already OC'd it to 3.9 on air with no probs, but donot need it )G-Skill Ripjaw 4GB 12800 CL7WD - 1TB & 500GB Black @ 6.0 GB/Sec Sidewinder X4 Keyboard & X3 MouseGigabyte GTX-460 OC 1GB Vid Card -- AA 8xS override, AF 16X, -LOD clamped, Texture @ High Quality, Tri Linear Optimize ON, Vert Sync forced ONCorsair 650TX Power SupplyCooler Master 922 HAF caseThrustmaster T-Flight HOTASWin 7 Pro 64 bitFSX Gold edition -- Not even installed yet, probably wont until after this years race, FS9 ROCKS! on this system.Still on 2-21" Tube monitors until they blow up. W/ FS9 running I can get over 100 frames @ light loadings. With all sliders full right, 100% PAI traffic @ KORD I get around 65 but I keep it limited to 31 FPS. Just BEAUTIFUL looking!!The happy part about this entire system including keyboard, FSX etc.. Got more and better stuff for just a hair over 50% of the cost of the system built in 2001 with none of the goodies!! Cannot wait to meet up on MP with you all..Roman
