Featured Replies

PMDG-800At CRZ going to KRNO and my main panel went bad.I turned the ALT knob on my GoFlight and got a reading.I is like all the good stuff is now behing panel plates. Then I went to the "zoomed" panel and it was ok ..so I used it.Has anyone an idea what caused it?PMDG800-PanelProb.jpg

Looks like you've got FMC SPD, LNAV and VNAV PATH, that's good. N1 looks good. Alt Sel says 36800, but it looks like you're at FL380.Looks like crazy computer hardware issues to me.You don't wanna buy a bungalow 15min north of DTW, do you? Big%20Grin.gif

Matt,In my first post I mentioned:"I turned the ALT knob on my GoFlight and got a reading."The aircraft was still flying the route just fine. And, the N1 mode select knob is not in "auto" either ... I was clicking various areas to see "if" anything was responding. My question was actually about the blank panel plate that appeared.I was wondering what could cause that one problem. So I tried another instrument panel "view" from the MSFS main menu.Other views seemed ok and I flew on to destination ok.This screenshot shows which panel I selected and started descent:Zoomed-panel.jpg

I did the same flight again today to test.I did not have a blank panel but I could cause the main panel to "freeze" the gauges from updating.I do not know if today's results have anything to do with my previous problem or not.****Started flight.Main panel view, ok.Then I go to zoomed panel view, ok.When I uncheck Zoomed Panel I go back to the main panel. But now the main it is "frozen" .. like speed and altitude e.g. are not changing.Go to zoomed panel .. is is still ok.When I uncheck Zoomed Panel I go back to the main panel. But it is "frozen" .. like speed and altitude e.g. are not changing. So, now, I found that if I press the "W" key to cycle through the several views when I get back to the the main panel it is ok .. updating e.g. speed and altitude.Anybody seen this problem before?

make sure you use the panel view hot keys as assigned in the PMDG utility (default M Z F R most used) or click the panel view icons. Do not use the FS SHIFT + number for changing views. I had the main panel freeze when doing it that way.

Ron,Thanks a'lot for confirming my PC is not going bad on me!I got so used to going to the MSFS menu I do it from habit now.I also have the MSFS View cycles key assignment (I think it is the "S" key) assigned to a yoke button. It tested ok so far.So, I will put a stickie on the monitor as a reminder when flying PMDG800-900 to use the simicons instead and I will test on the same flight tonight and see what happens. But some functions (#2 CDU/FMC) must still use the menu .. correct?Do you happen to know if there are PMDG "assigned" keyboard keystrokes for the PMDG views (just for my info)? Or, is the PMDG menu in MSFS's top menu the only assignments that are available for users.

I use the pmdg options keycommands method to assign keys to the panel switcher, and I am able to use the same assignments in all of their products. You have to go the the MSFS keyboard assignments and delete the key assignment. For example, I assign the character 'O' to overhead but it has to be unassigned in FS9.

Dan,Good points.I will check for double assignments.

I assign the same hot keys as used on the simicons for panel views in the PMDG options dropdown for key assignments. That way the icon labels remind me of the hot key to use.If you don't use any specific view just unassign it to leave the key for other uses.
