November 25, 201015 yr Hi, I noticed that the MD-11 seems to have a wide circle around it regarding AI traffic to follow it. When taxiing AI is kept at a great distance from the MD11 by ATC resulting in ATC constanly telling AI to hold for the MD11. Too great a distance actually. In some instances AI is still at the tarmac while the user AC alligns on the runway. Is there a variable that I can tweak so AI will just follow?Menno Menno i7-11700, 16GB, 1 TB SSD, 2 TB HDD, RTX 3070, Windows 11, MSFS 2020 DeLuxe, P3D 4.5
November 26, 201015 yr Interesting, I always thought they kept there distance because of my flying abilities....

The aircraft radius is what tells FS how big your aircraft is. It helps FS determine at what gates to park your aircraft and, indeed, when to ask AI to hold for you. Editing it to a smaller value will clear the issue you decsribe. I think you can do it via the AFCAD2 program; it has a rudimentary aircraft editor. November 27, 201015 yr As the MD11 is a derivative of the DC10 the reason ATC is keeping AI clear is in case of an accident!!!! :( vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
November 27, 201015 yr As the MD11 is a derivative of the DC10 the reason ATC is keeping AI clear is in case of an accident!!!! :( vololiberistaThe MD11 has a safety record of it's own not unlike the one of the DC10. I don't think you need to invoke the DC10 to keep AI traffic clear of the MD11.Michael Cubine Michael Cubine

November 30, 201015 yr It's not just the MD-11, it's with most FS aircraft, even default. Ace's did this to prevent rear end collisions that happen sometimes in FS9 while taxiing too close. They appear to have over done it though!!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
December 3, 201015 yr As the MD11 is a derivative of the DC10 the reason ATC is keeping AI clear is in case of an accident!!!! :( vololiberistaThe "10" had a very good saftey record, in fact it outshined the opposition including Airbus and Boeing. It's image was tarnished by the operators of the type.Chicago and the Turkish crash and Mt Erubus. None of these crashes were contibuted to a fault or design fault in the plane itself. With the exception of the Sioux City DC10 disaster, the bird had a wonderful record. And ask any former DC10 pilot and he will tell you what a wonderful aircraft to pilot, including the MD11. Just a darn shame they (MD11) are not used on Pax services anymore. Long live the MD11!!!!! Lesson over CheersJulian E

At least two distasters including Turkish Airlines were directly attributed to a cargo door design fault that the manufacturers knew about even whilst the a/c was under development! They did little or nothing about it and neither did they do anything when the fault became public knowledge!!!! THey knowlingly released an a/c that was faulty. Consequently the company now doesn't exist. fortunately!!vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
