November 30, 201015 yr I have made my own scenery & airports, but only on a relatively 'low-tech' level. One thing I don't understand is why scenery 'wobbles', like in this video (this example is Thomas Kwong's VHHH - the terminal windows):http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v68/martinlest/?action=view¤t=VHHH.mp4Is there a way to fix this, as it clearly is very distracting?Grateful for any advice,Thank you,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 1, 201015 yr Martin, I saw this yesterday and returned to see if there was an answer. I know that textured polygons that overlap or are too close to each other will cause a flashing effect, but what you show looked like it might be different. Make sure you don't have two active scenery files for that airport/terminal. Art
December 1, 201015 yr Author Thanks - there's only one scenery for VHHH installed (one AFCAD).Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 7, 201015 yr All due respect Martin, you have 2 versions of this airport active at the same time. The clues are in your video, shown in this screenshot...The only way I could duplicate the double signs in the big circle was to have files from 2 versions active at the same time. If you look close at the small circles you can see 2 lips of the terminal overhand, there should only be one.I suggest you remove all files for VHHH and start from scratch.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
December 7, 201015 yr Another thought ---Do you have the 9 Dragons Kai Tak installed also?If so, there is a particular set of adjustments which must be made to use it and Mr Kwong's new airport at the same time. This link explains what must be done:http://forums1.avsim...=230031&hl=VHHHHope that may help.
December 7, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions - before originally posting my query I searched for VHHH and only found one AFCAD and one scenery installed, but I'll do some more investigation and report back. No, I don't have the Kai Tak scenery installed...Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

No, I don't have the Kai Tak scenery installed...MartinWhen searching remember that an Afcad file does not have to be named in the "conventional" manner - as FS reads a header inside of the bgl to determine what type of bgl it is. It could therefore have any name at all.Have you tried searching using the Scanafd utility by Eliot Rogers?http://library.avsim...=root&Go=Search
December 8, 201015 yr Author Yes, I've used that for some years, but for some reason it doesn't pick up all my AFCADs, so it isn't 100% reliable. It only shows one AFCAD for VHHH...M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 8, 201015 yr Yes, I've used that for some years, but for some reason it doesn't pick up all my AFCADs, so it isn't 100% reliable. It only shows one AFCAD for VHHH...M.A couple points to remember. There is a lot more to scenery than Afcads. Not all scenery addons include Afcads.Only having one Afcad (besides the default) is not an indication of how many different addons you have for an airport. That being said, vhhh2004b.zip was built around the default scenery and does not include an Afcad, whereas vhhh2005b.zip does include an Afcad.Martin, remove everything you think you have for VHHH, start the sim and go see what it looks like. If it's not default, I think you'll know.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
December 8, 201015 yr Author Well, by trial and error I find that it is files in the vhhh2005b.zip file itself that are causing the problems. The first is 'term.bgl', which when removed stops the terminal windows from wobbling - it doesn't seem to introduce any scenery not already in the file tm_aprt.bgl, so it's OK it seems just to rename it term.bgxThe duplicate gates are caused by clk_obj.bgl. I tried editing this file with scasm and suceeded in removing the relevant bitmap references from the bgl file but all that does of course is leave me with textureless gate signs: it would be a long process to find out which sections of the sca file to delete to remove these, so as they aren't really a problem, I just left the duplicates in place. Not really worth hours of work to fix. (if you remove the file, this time a lot of airport scenery disappears). Thanks for the input, At least my terminal windows are stable now!Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 8, 201015 yr I am happy you sorted it out, but your post proves you have files from two versions active. While term.bgl and tm_aprt.bgl are from vhhh2005b.zip, there is no file named clk_obj.bgl in vhhh2005b.zipThere is a file named clk_obj.bgl in vhhh2004b.zip however.Likewise there are no files named term.bgl and tm_aprt.bgl in vhhh2004b.zip.I still recommend a fresh install of this addon for you.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
December 8, 201015 yr Author My two versions must have become mixed up somehow! - I did have the 2004 version once upon a time: I'll download a fresh copy of vhhh2005b.zip and (after backing up my current VHHH folder!) will see what happens if I install it afresh.Incidentally, I still have a quite different problem with VHHH in that I have Aerosoft AES set up there but on arrival FS9 ATC always seems to direct me to a gate that doesn't exist in the AES window (don't know if you use AES?). I've tried a number of AFCAD files, including of course the one that comes with the vhhh2005b.zip file, and posted on Aerosoft forums about the problem, but I've still not got this sorted. Thought I'd mention this here, just in case....Thanks again,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 8, 201015 yr Author Reinstalling from a fresh download of the zip file resolved all the problems - wish I'd know that the issues I was having were being caused by files inside the VHHH folder rather than something else I had installed, I could have saved myself a lot of time! My fault for mixing the 2004 and 2005 folders, though I have no idea how that happened.Still got the AES problem, but that's a different issue of course..Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
