23'' monitor - what settings for proper image width?

Featured Replies

Just installed an LG 23'' 16:9 monitor (I had a 17'' so far... big difference!)What settings must I change to have it proper set up regarding the image width? In the fsx.cfg file I changed the WideViewAspect=True. (was False with old screen)Resolution changed to 1920 x 1080. The 2D panel takes all the screen from right to left and looks like as if pressed from above. Pop up windows such as FMC are wider than normal and I have to reshape them.Should it be like this?VC looks fine. Thanks in advance,Christos

For 2D panels on a wide monitor, drag the right edge of the panel leftward until round gauges are round again. The fill in the empty space with a popup such CDU, throttle quadrant, lower EICAS or GPS etc. Save the flight so you won't have to do this next time you fly.AR

Resizing with the mouse and saving the flight is definitely the easiestway to go!For airplanes you fly a lot, you can also modify the panel.cfgfile, so that the format of the popup windows is set to the new screen format of 16:9 instead of 4:3.Most aircraft use a format such as:[WindowXX]file=size_mm=window_size_ratio=1.000 position=visible=ident=window_size= 0.543, 0.449window_pos= 0.106, 0.775The key parameter is Window_SizeThe example here sets the window tobe 0.543 times the width of the monitorand 0.449 times the height. If your new monitor is wider in format (16:9=1.78 vs 4:3=1.33)you need to multiply the width of the popup window by 1.33/1.78=0.75 In this case, 0.543x0.75=0.407So the modified Window_Size would be:window_size= 0.407, 0.449Obviously, you can make the window bigger or smaller as well in this way..
