Default FSX Virtual Cockpits

Featured Replies

Hi all just something I have been thinking about lately with the vcs from the default fsx I have seen some people completely discard them as bad, I for one don't think there that bad at all is just me? I think they look quite good I merge them with the project airbus model and the posky 737 models and its a wonderful combo you can even go further and add Ernie Alstons isg gauges.

Yes, they are okay, but they don't include all the bells and whisles real aircraft does. Graphics wise they are ok, altough all switches are not modeled. (those that does not work)

They are what they are, i.e they do look pretty good, but the complexity is not there for those into more realism, and that can prove tricky when tweaking them, since there aren't always the available 'slots' in those VCs for you to soup things up with additional avionics, forcing you to add things as pop up 2D windows. As an example, if you wanted to add the ISG Smiths FMC to a VC, you need to make several changes:The PFD, so that you can see the more advanced flight modes correctly annunciated. The FMC, so that you can actually monitor and change things.VNAV and LNAV buttons, so that you can actually engage the FMC.On the default FSX 737, there is no slot in the VC for a few of those items, which forces you to then have them as 2D pop ups. This is something I'm always a bit wary of when buying payware 'lite' airliners with the intention of tarting them up with ISG stuff, most notably with available working button slots on the MCP in the VC so that the LNAV and VNAV buttons can be added.Al

Well that's true about not everything is working like all the switches, but I think its just as good as some payware stuff for example like the overland planes which I own and enjoy for light aircraft. even the new justflight light airbus packges. You do have one thing missing the fmc with the default planes but that can be easily solved with in add-on like the isg gauges or even a payware panel. of course if people don't want to go threw the trouble of editing and messing around with files then something like like justflights airbus pack makes sense or the more expensive aerosoft airbus.

Hi Al we must have posted at the same time lol :( thats true I really wish aces left some spots to fill in the vc so now you have to have all these 2d pop up panels. I do understand on the complexity side of things if you wanted to add more complex stuff it can be difficult and I guess maybe not worth it so its good for those people that might want to fly with a nice model vc and the default gps.

I also think they did a great job, especially on the 738. The only down thing I noticed recently is that the VC is about 2 feet too low. Park next to a 737 and you'll notice that it's too low. Wish we could change the height. Especially with the Posky merge it really shows. You're almost as close to the runway as a cessna 172.

Hi, Cesar, I don't see why there's absolutely anything wrong with the default set. It's just that on most,, if not all of the inventories included, have VC graphics that are blurred, and some of the aircraft are mere portovers from their FS9 compatriots. If you see the graphics on the default A321, they lean in a slightly cartoonish way - yet again, you can throw these textures into DXTBmp and convert these textures into sharper ones. Dave.
