December 5, 201015 yr Hey all,I have been tring to utilize the external frame limiter, as I currently lock at 40fps with the sims own limiter. When I get it going, and lock at 40 (unlimited in sim) - flying in the sim is horrible, sometimes as low as 15-18fps. I think I must be doing something wrong. I have a stock config file, sans Highmem=1, Affinity Mask=15, and texture_bandwidth_mult=80I have tried the other handful of bojote's tweaks to no avail. Well....I did not get any improvement with or without them and the limiter still craps itself. I would like to run unlimited in the sim, and locked at 40 externally. Beginning to think its my hardware configuration. i7-950 at 4.2 on waterAsus Rampage III extremeGeforce 580 - current drivers6 gigs of DDR-3 ramFSX on 10K Raptor HDWindows 7 - current and updatedThanks for any help. Willing to post config if that would help.
December 5, 201015 yr Try this link in order to tweak your CFG. Also, I believe that locking to 20 may help. There will probably be many opinions on this. I think trial and error will help to determine what works for your setup. I long ago realized that all I needed was 20 for smoothness. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html Mike Keigley

If so double the setting you want - so for 40 set it to 80.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 6, 201015 yr Author Are you running multiple monitors? If so double the setting you want - so for 40 set it to 80.VicIve tried the config tweaker. It ran the same as my current config setup - I just get the smallest slightest micro stutters, but I might just live with them. I tried 80fps and while it was smoother, it was still a mess, 30fps but all over the place. Does it matter that I run full screen? When I go windowed it is smoother, but no better than how I run when im not trying to external limiter. Man this is a headache. Thanks for the help.Dan -
December 7, 201015 yr bump..Try turning Vsync off. I use Windows 7 and couldn't get the Frame Limiter to work until I turned Vsync off. Then it worked as advertized. It is my understanding that as long as you lock the frame rate under 60 fps (the monitor refresh rate) that Vsync is not necessary. I have done this on my setup and locked the frame rate to 30 fps and have not seen a Vsync issue.I hope this help.Danny Danny

It was finally smooth...however it did not seem much better than what I already have. I can still sense the slightest hesitation - must be the nature of this beast. Sometimes I just think it may not be possible to iron it all out. I am testing in the Seattle area using Orb. PNW...maybe I should try another area, with default scenery....thanks for the help.
