Windows speech recognition

Featured Replies

I have just one question: Does FS2Crew use the inbiuld windows speech recognition engine? Because I´m from Germany and I would like to buy it for the PMDG Jetstream 41and I don´t wheather this works, cause I only have the german speech recognition pack installed and I don´t know where to download the english one, so I don´t know whether my pc will "understand" me, if i´ll speak something.

Best regards, Steffen

Hi,What O/S do you have? XP would be no problem whatsoever. There are two versions of the PMDG J41 version:1) A button control version that does not use speech recognition.2) A version that uses Microsoft's SAPI speech recognition. If in doubt, I suggest getting the 'button control' version. Also, if using Vista/Win 7 Home, you can switch your OS to English by using a program called 'Vistalizator' at www.froggie.skBest,

In that case, you'd need to use Vistalizator to switch your OS to English from www.froggie.sk.If you had Ultimate (or Enterprise I think) you could download the English language pack from Microsoft. If you don't want to do that, your best bet is to use the 'button control' versions of FS2Crew.Best,

Hi Jan,If you have Ultimate, then your situation is easier. You can just download the English language pack from Microsoft.Your Speech Recognizer (Windows Control Panel) must be set to English - US.Cheers,

"Also, if using Vista/Win 7 Home, you can switch your OS to English by using a program called 'Vistalizator' at www.froggie.sk"Hmm, i think its not a good idea. This can damage windows and the licence can get lost, so i don't want try to do it. I'm realy sad about this cause i want the voice editions and i have the german win7 home premium only :( :(Greetings,Chris

Hi,after reading all those positive comments about FS2Crew, I decided that I will buy FS2Crew PMDG J41. I would like to go with the Voice Commander edition, because I guess that it is much more fun and practical than the Button edition. However, I do have Windows 7 Professional German and that's where I stumbled across this thread. As far as I understood, I could use "Vistalizator" to install the English language pack into my German Win7. But will this change the whole language of my Windows installation to English (i.e. all system dialogs, controls, control panel etc. will be English). Or is it possible to change only the speech recognition to English and leave everything else on German?Regards,Martin

Hi Martin,I've never had the need to use Vistalizator personally, but my understanding is that is that it changes your whole O/S.If you're not comfortable with that, I suggest going with a 'button control' version.Best,

Hi Bryan, thank you for your response. I tried it in a VM and you are right: The whole language has to be set to "English" in order to set the speech recognition to "English".Regards,Martin
