Who doesn't use Active Camera 2004?

Featured Replies

I tried the demo and while I think it's a cool little utility, I just do not think $15 is worth it. It's a small utility and I think $5 would be reasonable. I MIGHT consider buying it for $5.I didn't get much chance to use it, but I heard AC2004 is very buggy. If so, then that's not good.Regards

I used it in FS2002, and loved it. But, I can't see myself paying $15 for the head latency effect, and the head movement. Those are the only two features I would use, and $15 isn't worth it. Sorry, Anti-cyclone, you would have got/will get my money when you drop the price to, say, $5 USD ;)

I don't use it because the head latency effect (the only part I'm really interested in) doesn't work properly at my prefered frame rate setting. And I'm not prepared to lower my frame rate setting just to make it work.

>Sorry, Anti-cyclone, you would have got/will get my>money when you drop the price to, say, $5 USDWell, it's obviously up to each of us to decide whether something's worth buying at a set price, but I would suspect that they probably pay at least $3 in e-commerce processing fees on every order, so it'd be hard for any company to make even break-even money off of a $5 product.

>"I think active camera is more for kids, who do not>concentrate on serious flying itself"This is so unbelievably short-sighted, I don't even know where to begin. But if ignorance makes you feel all the more 'hard core'...what else can I say...you go, girl.Give me a break. :-erks

I'm not using it at the present time, although I did use it with FS2002. I might give it another shot sometime. Right now I'm being very selective in what I spend my money on for addons. I'm a little tired of paying through the nose to enjoy a hobby that was once mostly free, at least when I first started simming many years ago. I don't fly as much as I used to now and I don't enjoy it as much either. Maybe thats because its almost gotten to the point where I can't afford it anymore--throwing money down the never ending black hole of increasingly expensive addons.

You probably would have understood what I mean, if you have read my other post in this thread. So please do not shoot from the hip! ;-)Wolfgang

Couldnt imagine flying GA without it. In the small a/c it adds so much realism. Using it in the heavies doesnt have such a big effect. I just wish that FS had more turblance in real downloaded weather because thats when your flight seems most real with the small a/c and activecamera. The new traffic look is also great. Theres four addons I had to get for CoF since I think they are manditory (to me)FSUIPCFSFailureFS Flight TrackerActive CameraJust out of curiousty I wonder how many of those users who say they think $15 is to much are below the drinking age. What I mean is where I live if you go out 3 beers or two drinks plus tip cost that much so to me 15 is not a lot but if your having to cut lawns or something then maybe that 15 could be better spent.NP

Greetings! In an earlier message I posted: "(...) I bought and installed, but then again deleted, ActiveCamera from FS2004: I did like it very much in FS2002, but the paid version for FS2004 somehow crashes my computer. Pity though: I especially like the head latency effect! (...)"I tried installing again, but it still crashes (freezes) my computer. I can't get into "settings" or "register", instead the whole bloody thing freezes up on me. So I uninstalled ActiveCamera again, and now consider my 15 bucks a simple "donation" to the developers (wide and wicked grin)!Jaap Verduijn.

I tried demo and will not buy it.For $15 you get way to little. Just look at the amazing freeware available for FS9, and other reasonably priced payware to see that ActiveCamera gives you too litle for the money. Not worth it.

Hallo Jaap,It is a known issue with many 3rd party windows that are not properly displayed in full screen mode under FS2004. The sim doesn't crash at all, it is still running but waiting you close the 3rd party window. You have to revert temporarily to windowed mode (ALT+ENTER).In version 1.0 this issue was clearly explained in the docs.Regards,

Ah, stupid me (grin)! Thanks Serge, I will reinstall and do it that way then. Thanks again!Jaap.

I, too, first thought the $15 was too much, but after playing with it, realized that, for me, it's a 'must have.'The approach view is out-of-this world! Imagine standing very near the touchdown point on a runway watching a gorgeous 757 (the new POSKY) fly right over your head and land...perhaps I'm easily amused, but I never get tired looking at this view...even with GA aircraft.I also 'need' this util because it greatly increases the situational awareness while flying in the VC. The hat switch on the joystick, for me, isn't as precise when looking around in and out of the cockpit as is the mouse. My .02 cents...

As one who crossed the "great divide" between freeware and payware, let me say that when you get done with online purchasing overhead and bandwidth costs, not to mention wanting to be compensated for what could be rather substantial labor costs, $5 will simply not work. You WILL lose money on the product.About the lowest one could go is $9.95, and if you want to earn a decent profit, in order to stay in business / continue with future development work $15 doesn't sound too bad.Always remember, never compare the cost of the add-on to the cost of FS, as the sales volume between the two are light years apart. You're talking a million + copies for each version of FS, compared to maybe a few thousand copies for an add-on. :-)Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...RUM_LOUF_A2.jpg
