Running FS98

Featured Replies

I was wanting to take a walk down memory lane tonight (it's Christmas after all!) and install FS98 if only for a feeling of nostalgia. FS98 is, after all, the simulator that got me hooked on aviation! So is there any way to get FS98 working with W7 and my hardware or will I have to find a dinosaur to install to? I know there are others in this forum that understand the reasons to my query! :(

Is there a single selection to disable all the Windows7 or did you have to search and destroy? Interested in trying this myself as I have all the past versions and would be curious to see how far back I can go. I imagine something in the Control Panel?Merry Axmess,Clutch

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

HOw many FPS are you hitting? I would bet it is over 100

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

When I ran fs98 on my AMD64 GeForce 8500GT system a few years ago, the frames per second just showed &%^$9 rather than numbers. :(

Nope. Right click the launch icon and disable visual themes and desktop composition. Still buggy, though! It worked long enough to piddle around Chicago!
