January 9, 201115 yr Hi all,I'm thinking to buy the "B737NG FMC User Guide" of Bill Bulfer to prepare myself about the FMC for the coming PMDG 737NGX. The FMC version is U10and all software features are of the Smiths Industries FMC. 1.- I would like to know if this book is "compatible" with the coming PMDG 737NGX FMC. Has the PMDG 737NGX also U10 and software features of Smiths Industries?2.- Do you recommend the book? What's your opinion? Do you own it?Thanks in advantage!Kind regards,Steven Steven Albi
January 9, 201115 yr Commercial Member We have that book ourselves Steven. While I won't guarantee every feature mentioned (especially communications related stuff like ACARS etc) is there in the NGX, the vast majority is. There's a lot of options on the 737 series, we can't possibly get them all. It's probably more options than any other commercial airliner. January 9, 201115 yr Author We have that book ourselves Steven. A book from PMDG itself? I see many books of PMDG itself about the 737NGX but I do not know wich book I've to take to learn the FMC properly. :( Maybe the PMDG 737-NGX Flight Crew Training Manual? Steven Albi
January 9, 201115 yr We have that book ourselves Steven.I suspect Ryan means they own a copy or two of it.Chris.
January 9, 201115 yr Author PMDG 737-NGX Flight Crew Training Manual includes FMC tutorials/explainations? Steven Albi
January 9, 201115 yr These are the books (I believe) the OP is mentioning. They are excellent, IMO. I've owned them for ages...http://www.cockpitcompanion.com/servlet/the-FMC-USER-GUIDES/CategoriesThe cockpit companion book is excellent as well.Edit--I should add that these shouldn't really compete with what PMDG is selling as they are not nearly as in-depth. They are still excellent books...here is a link of some random photos I just made. Two are from the NG cockpit companion, and two are from the NG FMC companion.http://www.flickr.com/photos/48645540@N06/5341011450/in/photostream/ Jeff Hepburn

January 10, 201115 yr Commercial Member I just went out and bought this today, along with his 737NG Cockpit Companion. What phenomenal additions to the FCOM - definitely recommended if you can stomach the cost! Nick Collett i5 2500k @ 4.4GHz, GTX 480, 8GB Corsair 8-8-8-24, 300GB WD Velociraptor, Corsair HX850W
January 12, 201115 yr Author Okey, I got today the B737NG FMC User's Guide, first impression: Wauw, looks good! Many pictures of the CDU on what page you get if you press "this button" and what's coming next. Good explainations about what each button does and the functions. I've not really read it but it already looks very good. I'm sure this book will help me working with the coming B737NGX FMC. ;)- Also nice: The first page of the book is a small card/poster of the FMC so you can see where each button is. Steven Albi
