Anybody interested in creating an "Official" FSXmark07 results thread? I was just about to do it, but figured we should have the details ironed out and agreed upon before doing it so that the "official" rules can be in the opening post. I was thinking brief setup instructions and a screenshot of each of the settings tabs... this was spurred by the fact that the included Global High configuration provides some pretty odd settings here on my computer... and also by the individuals who don't really care about non-FSX benchmarks.Somebody say yes and I'll propose the "official" rules
YES!And we'll pin the tread on the top. <_<

Alright, give me a little while. I'll make my proposal here sometime later today.

Yes. Count me in!

Please start the Official FSXMark07 Benchmark thread - I was interested in seeing just how high the average fps has become for the Sandy Bridge - it sure seems to be almost twice the performance of some of the overclocked 920 PCs. It would still be nice to have reports from older systems like Q6600s that I have as well as 9XX systems. It would also be of value to get an idea of the percentage improvements - even estimates - of the more difficult/complex situations like PMDG and ORBX users so we could estimate those situations versus the FSXMark07 percentage improvements. It would be great if we can get as much detail about the PC - CPU clock speed, memory speed, etc so we can tell if our system is running up to par. I do think we might even get results over 100fps now for Global High. This data is not for "I'm the fastest" competition but is more for use in making sure we have tuned our system so it is in the ballbark of a reported system. It also can be used to show the effect of just a single change of memory speed or SSD or whatever or maybe a tweak. Even those with multiple monitors or some other unusual configuration can report and compare to their system with just a single monitor.Example results:1. Q6600 @2.4Ghz 25.5 fps (FSXMark07 Example results - included with software)2. 975 @4.2Ghz 47.3 fps (Doug Horton - Computer Pilot pg 74 Oct/Nov Vol 14)3. 2600K @4.8GHz 86.0 fps (The AVSIM Forums> Hardware Discussions> MOBO, RAM, CPU's & Other Hardware -> Sandy Bridge Benchmark testing Results - HLJames - 2133Mhz-CL7+NV260Dave

Okay, I'm pleased to announce the rough draft of FSXMark11. You will notice it is much harder than FSXMark07, but I figured it would be nice if reported framerates were somewhat representative of what we're seeing on today's hardware. Check it out and suggest any changes or modifications. Critique it all you want, please! You will notice that AI aircraft are disabled in the Display Settings. This is because I figure most of us already have 3rd party AI aircraft installed, so I figured removing AI altogether would remove one more variable. To make up for it, I set airport vehicles to max.I will surely be making more changes to it, but wanted to get some input with it in its current unfinished state.

Nice, thanks Corey. Testing now, but I think there's a mismatch in the cfg. The pdf shows Very Dense AG, while the cfg seems to set it to Extremely Dense. No big deal, just to let you know

Alright, Very Dense AG is what was intended. Let me know what kind of frame rates you get as well. I'll post mine soon. If it's too hard for guys still running dual core systems and such we'll make it a little easier.

Sorry Dazz, I forgot to copy over the PLN file. 1. Delete all the FSXMark11 files from your Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder in your My Documents Directory2. Re-download the FSXMark11 zip file from the link I posted above. I also fixed the AG issue

No need to apologise. Thank you, once again, for putting this together.Ok, here we go:Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 16213, 300000, 33, 75, 54.043Doesn't look very impressive at all

Looks good Corey. If you don't mind there are a number of ideas and points of clarification that we might want to toss around before we lock this thing in. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have 100% autogen and 7cm ground textures with default scenery as we will better be able to test the sheer ability of the CPU to process large amounts of FSX information. Otherwise FPS will simply go off the charts, but not give an accurate depiction of true machine capabilities. Besides, those are settings that I run with anyway over dense ORBX cities, but if I change over to default ground textures, which I will do for the test, it will just run too unrestrained and give unrealistically high FPS at these lower settings. In other words I think that the level of processing required should be increased by putting the scenery sliders all the way over to the right. Also, many people use programs like nvidiainspector for tuning the video card settings. I use the more effective Nvidia SLI tool to load c8xQ settings which greatly enhances quality at the expense of the top end FPS. Those factors will make it more difficult to compare actual apples for apples if participants keep these types of enhancers. Therefore it does not make sense (to me) to suggest that testers keep such individual settings. In addition it is really important to record exactly what video card is being used and which settings it is being run at. I know from previous detailed analysis that contrary to popular opinion, overclocking a highly powered GPU when running with compatible equipment will enhance FPS counts significantly in FSX.We don't want to complicate the already complicated, but it seems beneficial that these matters be redefined somewhat for increased standardization or at least standardized qualification of the results by accurate accounting of the variations used. Anyway, whatever you think will be just fine. Thank you for the great work of putting all this together!Kind regards,

I run the test again with my GTX460 overclocked with slightly better results:Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 17310, 300000, 34, 82, 57.700There's something about this configuration that makes it not too CPU intensive. I think it's the default 737 because overclocking the GPU doesn't make a difference in my benchmark in EGLL + PMDG 744 with this same settings
