February 2, 201115 yr Hi. After gaining my ppl flying in a piper warrior, i decided to purchase the carenado archer ii. I am extremely pleased with the product but one problem keeps annoying me. Ive noticed that when the flaps down the nose pitches down. This is the opposite to the real aircraft where a very nocticable pitch up force is experienced. Is there any solution to this problem?Thank you
February 8, 201115 yr Haven't flown an Archer, but I have flown a Cherokee with manual flaps, the nose definitely did pitch down when you put in flaps. Can't imagine they're that much different.

February 23, 201115 yr Same issue with the Carenado 152 for FSX. My real one does not pitch down!Robcomparing high wing/fowler type flaps and low wing/plain flaps is like comparing apples and oranges. Agreed, a 152 shouldn't pitch down, but that's a different story.
March 4, 201115 yr comparing high wing/fowler type flaps and low wing/plain flaps is like comparing apples and oranges. Agreed, a 152 shouldn't pitch down, but that's a different story.Agreed. A 152 should have a noticeable pitch up, as should any highwing Cessna.
March 4, 201115 yr I just flew a real Piper Warrior today. There is a noticable pitch up on the first stage of flap. :( My FS Videos
March 7, 201115 yr I wonder what the difference is between the Warrior and the old Cherokee, because the PA-28-140 I flew pitched down, but they're basically the same aircraft. Strange.
March 7, 201115 yr I wonder what the difference is between the Warrior and the old Cherokee, because the PA-28-140 I flew pitched down, but they're basically the same aircraft. Strange.Depends at what speed you extend the flaps as well. If you use them as a speedbrake at Vfe the pitch effect is different than at the lowest posssible speed.Normally one extends the flaps while reducing speed so the plane is most probably not 100% in trim while extending the flaps and the flap pitch effect might obscured.
October 10, 201114 yr When I had bought the model in FSX and asked the same question of a few pilots at a pilot lunch the other day and listend to two pilots argue this. Aparently the correct answer is... It does pitch down. At least on a PA-28. From the Pprune forums... http://www.pprune.org/flying-instructors-examiners/222519-best-approach-land-pa28-180-cherokee.html1. make sure that you hold off at the correct speed and height.2. The PA28-180 has a very long straight nose. Look at the profile of a C172 and you will see that the nose profile curves down. You may be reluctanct to raise the nose attitude of the PA28-180 sufficiently high in eye line attitude and therefore will be landing heavily on the nose wheel. Doing so will cause a 'porpoise' and loss of control.3. Remember that the larger more powerful 180hp engine has a much coarser prop and if you ###### the power to idle on hold off as you may be used to doing in the C172 the loss of speed and pitch down will be very marked, therefore hold off and smoothly reduce power allowing the main wheels to settle on before closing the throttle.4. The PA28-180 will PITCH DOWN when flap is lowered And....The Warrior and Archer series pitch up but many other PA28's such as the PA28-140 and PA28-180 Cherokees pitch down when flap is lowered. Is the aircraft that you fly a PA28-181 Archer rather than PA28-180 Cherokee. There does seem to be some confusion with names. All PA28 aircraft certainly do not pitch up when flap is lowered! So these guys argue this as well. But as they go on someone says the PA28-180 pitches down and the PA28-181 Pitches up. I guess unless a PA28-181 pilot comes and proves which really happens, any answer could be right. C.
