February 15, 201115 yr ...for twin engine airliner a/c?For my VRS F/A-18 Superbug (and previousely for Janes F/A-18 E/F) I use Thrustmasters HOTAS Cougar, which I really love. Both it's build quality, performance and flexible programming capabilities are top of the line. Now I'm looking for something in the same league, but for commercial airliners and exec twins. So, can you recommend a top notch yoke and quadrant that matches a/c like the PMDG 737 NGX and the RealAir Beech Duke?My setup is Vista, Intel Core Duo Cpu E8400 @ 3,00 GHz x 2, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470, BenQ M2700 HD DVITIA Peter Vestergren
February 16, 201115 yr I use the Saiteks, yoke and two TQ's and have them assigned to different functions using FSUIPC, registered version. Some have complained about the yoke, but I like it a lot. The only thing is that the LED that lights up the clock/stop watch on the yoke stopped functioning. No big issue for me as I hardly ever used it. It also comes with a two year warranty. Jim D.
February 16, 201115 yr Author Thx. Seems like most people use Saitek today.Anyone got any experience from Precision Flight Control's (http://www.flypfc.co..._id=33&dn_id=38). Their quads look very nice to me. Peter Vestergren

It would want to be too for the price they are compared to the other two :-) I have found that the movement is always smooth & switches have a solid quality feel about them. Makes flaring at touchdown a lot easier! I must say though surprisingly I did have an annoying problem with it & if I wasn't in Australia & freight so expensive I would have returned it for replacement. One of the springs attaching to a base plate which are secured/ dampened by liquid glue came loose shortly after I got it & was causing a clicking when turning into a roll. The spring would catch then release on the plate & cause a click which although didn't affect the performance sure was annoying & not what I expected. The techs at PFC were very good & I was able to pull the unit apart very easily & fix the problem myself. Looks like the base plate had not been pre prepped so the glue would stick & so it lifted off after a week or so's use. All good now & I expect this is a very unusual problem & apart from that all has been rock solid since.Re the throttles I cannot comment as I still use two Saiteks & although no doubtedly the PFC's would be far superior I'm happy with what I have at the moment. As like you I tend to use a number of different aircraft & I find the combination of two Saitek throttles plus a registered version of FSUIPC that I can easily swap between planes & just change the knobs to where I have programmed the throttles/props/flaps/brakes etc. This may not be as easy to do with the PFC's but if you can afford them then I'm sure they would be the way to go.Although you havn't asked in your OP my latest acquisition was a set of Saitek Combat Pedals which I have only had for a week but am very impressed with. Again doubt they would stack up against the PFC's but are pretty damn good & a lot better in their operation than the previous model. Have given a mini review in another post.Good luck in your decision. If I can be of any help let me know.Cheers,Ross Cheers, Ross i910900KF | ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Z590 | ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3070 OC 8Gb | 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 I Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing | Samsung SSD 870 1TB GB HD | WIN 10 64 Bit
February 17, 201115 yr Author Hi Ross.Thx for your answer and nice to hear from down under. I'm planning a trip there this X-mas.Acutally I've got one question on the PFC yoke: On their pic's I can't see any hat switch on the yoke. I would have thought that this was mandatory on any joystick in order to easily view around the horizon and cockpit when flying. How is this done with the PFC? Peter Vestergren
February 17, 201115 yr If it's modelled after real life civilian controller there wouldn't be a hat switch. So, to add to realism you could get a TrackIR and just turn your head :)Bjorn "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"

How is this done with the PFC?G'day Peter,As Crewecut said there is no hat switch on these yokes. I use TrackIR to look around with. Used to use the one on the Saitek occasionally when in outside view but after a short time didn't miss it at all. I still have the Saitek Yoke attached so I can run one of the throttles so still have it there if I really want it. You could keep your joystick attached & use the switch on that maybe. But I would really recommend getting into TrackIR. In my opinion there is no other piece of hardware can be used in FS that will give you as much immersion as this piece of kit. It really does help with particularly VFR flying but I have also used it with my LVLD B767 for years & can't fly without it. Perfect for situational awareness particularly when in the circuit. Have had it since V2 days when it wasn't 6 FOV.Where in Oz where you planning on visiting?Cheers,Ross Cheers, Ross i910900KF | ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Z590 | ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3070 OC 8Gb | 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 I Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing | Samsung SSD 870 1TB GB HD | WIN 10 64 Bit
February 20, 201115 yr Author Thx Ross.Impressive. Never really looked at the TrackIR before. Maybe my next accquisition... :Nerd: We're going to see friends in Melbourne, and spend X-mas and New Year there. But will be looking around a bit too.... Peter Vestergren
