Aerosoft Airbus X - is it just me......

Featured Replies

Or is it a bit disappointing? You climb in and it looks great. The sounds are brilliant. You sense that you're going to be in for a treat but then you realise that all the stuff you take for granted in the PMDG or Level D add-ons is missing. No SIDS, no STARS, no ability to even put in the runways which makes navigation difficult. Then the flight model is all bouncy and none of the FBW stuff seems to work as you'd hoped. Yes I know they advertised it as a 'lite' product and I knew about the lack of nav data but this is the second A320 (Airsimmer, anyone?) that is wonderful to sit in at the gate and poke around but is a huge let down once you fire it up. It's like taking delivery of an S Class Mercedes and then climbing inside and realising that they've fitted it with the equipment from a moped. For the love of God, please someone do an A320 properly.

Aerosoft is working on an Airbus X V2 which should include the features you would like to be added. :( Release date and upgrade price are still unknown.

KInd regards

Ah that looks good Jean Paul. We'll wait and see. If they sort out the flight model and the feature list this definitely could be what we've been waiting for. I hope there's a discount for version 1 customers though!

I saw this at a friends place and on first sight thought wow, its a must buy. After spending 20 mins with it I had decided it was not worth it.

I think to expect a newly released product for FSX to be like PMDG, LDS, the price would be in the $60 to $90 range, whereasa Lite to medium product is in the $30 - $45 range. So paying less than LDS/PMDG's price, and expecting the same level of detail is not being realistic.Regards.Ernie.

The Airbus X is what it is, a lite version. The only real problem I have with this aircraft is the throttle. I use a Saitek AV8R-01, and I can't for the life of me get the throttles to work properly. I have read umpteen posts on Aerosoft's support forum with no luck. I have a registered version of FSUIPC and have used the LUA scripts, but I just can't get it calibrated properly. Is anyone else having the same problem?

So you knew it was a lite product but you still feel the need to whine about no systems. :(

To be fair, the old PSS A320 from 2002 was more functional than the Aerosoft effort. It shouldn't be that hard to include proper managed modes for the price charged. It looks great but has no substance.I will be more than willing to take a look at the 2.0 version when it arrives.

If it was that easy, wouldn't it have been done by now ???It was easier to focus on systems more back then (For FS2002). There's a lot more effort that goes intothe VC's and exteriors for FSX than it did for FS2002. So much so that a few developers have focused on the systems first with the intention of later adding a VC version (DA, and Leanardo SH come to mind). Those who try to do both in one shot their development time seems to be near 2 years (quite a bit more for AirSimmers product). That's a lot of dev time for a relatively small addon market.Regards.Ernie.

Ernie,While you are in a better position than most to gauge this, I think the market for hi fidelity addons isn't that price sensitive - many of us would pay $100 for a hi-fi package. Hopefully, now that Aerosoft got their "lite" product out of their system, they can do this V2 and charge the premium that hi-fi stuff deserves.Accordingly, I hope you folks at QW consider a similar strategy - Make the complex version in parallel and then hold back features for the "lite" crowd. Then, for those of us who are willing to pay handsomely, give us the hi-fi version.

Hi, it's light and I like it this way, I'm one of those NON hardcore simmer. I hate complexity and 30 preflight check. I love good FPS. That said, this plane is buggy like heck. I have install on 2 machines, 2 OS, still the same bug.-Crash to desktop at exit (most of the time)-Can't load it will flying other plane, CTD-Can't load saved file, CTD. Sometime I can't even save file.-Throttle issue. I tried all suggested config stuff and so on.the fact that I can't load a save file is the biggest concern. It's a beautifully plane that is for sure.Still waiting for a decent patch , I have no time to andno desire to continually play with config file. I have paid for that thing and it should work.Point me out to some light and nice looking plane, I'll buy them all. I have plenty of fun with the Wilco 777.thanks

This will cure all your complaints. Go to www.aivlasoft.com and download and use for a 30 day free trial the Electronic Flight Bag. You can set up your flight plan or directly input an existing flight plan from several sources, including all the SIDs and STARs in the world, you can select your departing and arriving runways and change your mind at any time, you can select your Flight Level and change up or down at any time and it all works with the Aerosoft airbus X that you have. Plus it has so much more, like moving maps, weather, checklists, etc.The EFB looks like it was designed to pick up where Aerosoft left off with the AirbusX. The combination makes for a very enjoyable flight experience in fsx. I have been using this combination since the first week of January and it is an absolute pleasure. I do still want to see the v2 for the AirbusX but even if it never comes, this will continue to fill the void.Of course it lso works with any add-on that reads the default flight planner. I also use it with my PMDG MD-11 when I need to get in the air rapidly with a good flight plan. If you happen to have Navigraph, then you can stay up to date with the monthly updates, but the EFB comes with Navigraph included for the one AIRAC.The AirbusX accepts all these inputs directly into the MCDU.
