Removing Apollo radios from the Maule

Featured Replies

Does anybody know how to go about removing the Apollo series radios from the Maule that was recently released? This is a beautiful airplane that I am enjoying very much, but frankly dont like those radios. I'd prefer just the default MS stack...or at least a panel alternative that has the basic stack and GPS. You'll have to open up the panel.cfg file with Notepad and do a cut-and-paste with radios from other airplane panels, like the default Mooney.. Not hard to do.. just tedious.

There's also some free and payware panel editing software packages that will do the trick for you. check with the folks in the panel design forum for some tips.

Agree whole heartedly. As Bert said, a bit of cutting and pasteing is needed. I already essentially did what you describe. Seemed like a lot of bird for so little avionics to me. Added Dual everything with DME, ADF and an autopilot. Works like a charm. I do some revision to most of my panels. You probably will want to add a gauge or two. (msmeteo for example if you have it.)You will need to add the radio section from your default to the aircraft.cfg file as well.I have fuelstatus gauges, msmeteo, rwyinfo, airadar, and a bunch of toggle shortcuts etc. as applicable to the different models.Just be sure you save what you started with in the event you need to start over, or want to backup to something. I usually copy the whole airplane or panel to my desktop, rename it, and then proceed to start the surgery on the original panel or plane.cfgedit is a great tool for this type of effort on some panels (mostly of the last generation) but unfortunately the Maule panel does not show up in its' files.Good LuckRTH
