March 23, 201115 yr You have allready bought this setup? If not, then change to an Sandy Bridge CPU. A i5-2500k of an i7-2600k would be perfect for FSX. They will clock at 4,5-5 GHz with no problem at all. I will get one in the future. But if you allready have it, you can oc it to arround 4 or more GHz with no problem. You just have to have a good cooler and then it´s all ready for a first flight. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
March 23, 201115 yr Well if your uncomfortable with overclocking, the 1155 systems are much easier and yeah, they definitely clock higher. But you can still get excellent performance with your i7-930. With good cooling, you can probably take it as high as 4.2 or 4.4. The 2500K and 2600K can be taken to 4.8 quite reliably. Also, what case do you have? March 24, 201115 yr Would you get the i5 or i7 ? And which mobo or am I better to buy liquid cooling system and stick with my i7 930Slown down hehe. Stick with the i7 930 - it's an excellent CPU. Stay with your noctua cooler, excellent cooler. Liquid is overkill these days unless you're trying to get that last 5% OC out of your CPU.The i7 930 will easily go to 4+ GHz with your current cooler.
