April 2, 201115 yr Hi there!I have a problem with the lights from my MD-11.When I turn on taxi lights and want to taxi at night, I just get an illuminated area far in front of the plane and not near the plane. When I see pictures from people using the lights they all have very bright front lights and can see the area right in front of the plane...but I can´t.Any suggestions? Oliver Donner
April 2, 201115 yr This is a phenomenon that I for some reason see only with the PMDG MD-11. The cause is the file spotlight.bmp for which some add-ons lime Real Environment Xtreme or XGraphics install optional replacements. Not all of these replacement files cause a problem, and I guess most other planes don't show any problem when using them. As said, I only see this with the PMDG MD-11.You can resolve the problem by either restoring the original file (e.g. you can extract them from the FSX install DVDs), or try different alternatives from your add-on (use the Windows search function to find customized spotlight.bmp files).Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. April 5, 201115 yr Author You are right....I use REX2 and only the MD-11 seems to have problems with this. How exactly can I get the spotlight.bmp file from the FSX disc?Or are there any other users of REX here in the forum that know what setting for the landing lights to use? Thanks for your help! April 5, 201115 yr hi in ur rex options change ur settings in the landing lights to another i had same problem and found the one that fixed mine I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
April 5, 201115 yr Author Yeah, I´ve tried several and didn´t find one that fixed it.I restored the original file in the rex backup folder and now it works perfect. Oliver Donner
April 7, 201115 yr Either the original halo.bmp or the one in Rex reserved for the RealAir Duke and so on works I believe...I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months back and had forgotten to deselect the landing lights option in REX2 when changing the cloud and skies texturees over...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
April 7, 201115 yr I tested some texture files from REX and found that the ones having a "streched" look don't work, whereas the others give a correct ground lighting effect. No real reason to use the stock FSX file only, REX files do a great job as well - but not all of them, as said. Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales.
