Disappointing in Forum reply

Featured Replies

It has been almost two weeks and posted 2 posts regarding the location of the PMDG 744 TRC zip files as described in the handbook, however, the 2 posts have been reviewed by almost 60 people and not a single reply.I like to move on after I have read the manual and try these TRC lessons but have been unable to locate these zip files.Hoping somebody is able to give me some insight how to obtain these files, as of now, I am stuck.Appreciate any info regarding these files, thank youJacobus Homan, Canada

Hi Jacobus, you can find those files on PMDG's website under Download/Documentation. There are 4 entries (lesson 1 - 4). These are zip-files containing a pdf and another zipfile including saved flights and panelstates. But remember those files or for the FS9 version of the 747.Hope I pointed you in the right direction :( Otto

Thanks Otto for your fast reply, really appreciate this, so, these same files are not applicable to FSX but just for FS9, I am using FSX , this is very strange that PMDG did not incorporate these files into FSX.Thanks again Otto Jacobus Homan, Canada

There's no difference between the two, really. The TRC are supposed to take you out of the "sim" mindset anyway, so being sim-specific would be counter productive.

Hi Jacobus,This may help you too.Read here...http://forum.avsim.net/topic/282623-pmdg-747-type-course-lessons/page__p__1756502__fromsearch__1#entry1756502Note: As far as I know, specific FSX lessons were never generated. RegardsMark

Thanks Mark for your post, I find it extremely strange why the PMDG Development Team did not incorporate the TRC lessons into FSX, I looked over the 2007 revision handbook specifically for FSX, but nowhere it states that these lessons were eliminated.I tried to download these lessons into FSX, but to no avail, well I guess I have to start from scratch and do it myself. Thanks guys for all your info, have a great dayJacobus Homan, Canada

You don't need the weather and saved flights to accomplish what you want to accomplish. All you need is the PDF. It's the content in the PDF that's important, not the weather, not the exact flight. To be honest, with a little mental work (the thought of "Hey! The 747X uses .sav panel states, and the other files still work, too! All that's changed is the folder structure! WOW!"), they work just as well. Again, you really don't need them, however. If anything, all you'd need is the panel state, and even that could be subbed for the cold and dark state. There are certain things in this world that you might as well take care of on your own instead of waiting for others to hand it to you. The TRCs were provided to us as an extra, not a part of the product itself, so the fact that they're not redistributed for FSX doesn't surprise me (much less do I care, again, because I can just as easily take the content and apply it to any situation). I'd rather them concentrate on future products than revising old documentation that's technically still current, with slight variation.

Thanks Kyle for your input, I realize what you mean, however that was not my position on this subject, I was nearly indicating why the revision 2.0 handbook for the FSX did n't provide some sort of information regarding the elimination of these TRC lessons for FSX, that's all, it is not the amount of work and mental input that I was describing, merely, to inform newcomers (like me) of any changes.Again, my thanks for your informationJacobus Homan, Canada

You're welcome. Again, they were never part of the FS9 product. They were released after as a separate work, thus, since they were never part of the FS9 product, there was no reason to put out any formal text saying that they were excluded from the FSX product. Furthermore, again, they aren't excluded, or eliminated from FSX. I see some of what you're getting at, but the content is the same, regardless. The lessons learned from the "FS9 version" still hold true now, despite not being packaged with FSX files.
