April 5, 201115 yr FWIW, Ryan, I do think the J41 effects look pretty good and I haven't had any problems with them. But, you're right, its really just cosmetic. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
April 5, 201115 yr Moderator Thanks for letting us know Ryan. I'm just glad that now we know for sure that it wont have it, rahter than wondering if it would. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 6, 201115 yr That's too bad. I think rain effects on the vc are very important for that immersion factor that I really enjoy. Oh well.
April 6, 201115 yr Just think how often you'd fly through rain. More often than not it's not raining, so I don't think it's an effect that you'll miss. Even if it was raining, from the start to the end of the flight the portion where you'd see rain on the windscreen would account for less than 5% of the total time - the taxi, takeoff, landing and taxi to the gate. There's no rain at 39,000ft. Matthew Bellette
April 6, 201115 yr Moderator True, but I always thought it looked cool sitting in the VC of the J41 getting ready for a flight and seeing the rain on the windscreen. Really looked cool because it was a lot easier to see that its actually raining than a VC that doesn't include that effect. None the less, it is what it is and I will love the NGX anyways, with or without that effect. I'm one of the few guys that doesn't really care about the external model of the a/c since I dont take many screen shots or use spot view very often, so for me using some of those resources for the VC rain would have been cool, but at least we will get the new style landing lights. Frankly, I would pretty much be just as happy if the NGX didn't even have an external model other than just a black box or one of a low poly AI plane, that way more resources could be used for rain/ice/fog windscreen effects in the VC, but I can only imagine the complaining if there was no external model from all the screen shot or video guys, lol.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
