Flight1 Meridian for FS2004 - Can it really be smoother? (for michael)

Featured Replies

All Flight1 Meridian users (and of course, Michael - who's probably one of the most knowledgeable of this AC) -I just installed the FS2004 Flight1 Meridian free upgrade from FS2K2.All I can say is that although my FPS are about the same, the overall smoothness is actually BETTER in FS2004. Usually, most of my previous FS2K2 AC fly no better in FS2004 (and most are a bit less in FPS performance). However, the Meridian upgrade is actually smoother/faster/better.Anyone else notice this?JerryG

Yup! The Meridian flies smoother in FS9 than it did in FS2002 on my system (P4-2.8) as well.Great plane!

I think it was due to Jean-Luc's extra effort to make it even smoother.Michael J.

Hi Jerry! The Meridian 2004 is smoother for many reasons!First, it gives me the opportunity to remind something about aircrafts and FS developments, especially after reading lately a lot of comments about several aircrafts, considered smooth and great because easy on the FPS: what impairs the performances the most in FS is the panel, and any aircraft with a simple and clasical panel will be smooth and gentle on the FPS. When going beyond this (namely the FS SDK for rotating needles drawn above a bitmap background), then we are in a different situation and there, you will see tremendeous differences from one "advanced" aircraft to the other, pertaining to FPS hit!As for the Meridian 2004, it is almost like a new product, not only from the revised and greatly improved 3D model of course, but most of all from the several new technologies developped by Reality XP (which designed all of the panel and gauges of the Meridian 2002/4 ttp://www.reality-xp.com/products/meridian/index.htm ).So the Meridian 2004, has the new Reality XP True Display XP v2.1 technology which was greatly improved from v1.0:http://www.reality-xp.com/products/JL4/tour/features.htmand also the latest Flight Line 530XP Garmin v2.1 code which is also greatly improved from v1.0 (as much as most of the user reports at Reality XP forum speak for a negligeable FPS hit when using the Reality XP Garmin 530 - not what the stock GPS500 gives obviously):http://www.reality-xp.com/products/FL5/index.htmWhen all this is combined, you get a Meridian 2004 v2.0 which in most cases runs not only smoother than Meridian 2002 v1.0, but also runs better than many other aircrafts inspite of being one of the most complex FS aircraft design!Hope this helps!
