Not from the "free flight" screen I think. You have to start somewhere, slew around and "drop" the Carriers where you like to see them. Then place your plane on one of them and start the operations.I'm using that Java tool AiCarriers to place them, but there are some packs around where Carriers follow some pre-defined routes. But I don't think that they support some kind of start location from within that free flight screen, so the slew technique seems to be the only one.

Start with your aircraft parked at any airport. Pause it. Move the aircraft to anywhere in the world using the latitude and longitude at an altitude of 74~75 ft.Using aicarriers, place the Nimitz at your location. Un-pause.Caution: If you wheels are not touching the Carrier when you un-pause, your aircraft will go flying off into the sunset like a runaway horse! ha ha ha. This is how I do it with my VRS F-18 but your results may vary.

There has to be a way otherwise the missions would not be able to work. See my example video on YouTube. I think even a email to the mission builder would generate a valid answer. If interested I can look up the mission name and author and post it in this thread. fisheyehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTe4txr_sVI

I'm just learning all this AI carrier stuff and tried some hints that were included in the readme for "carriertracks1and2". I posted the following a few days ago at the other site.

Save your flight on the deck of Javier's moving Nimitz or IKE about 250 feet forward of where you want your flight to start. Parking Brake ON, Sim Paused. After you save it go to C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files, Open the Saved.FLT in notepad, scroll to "[simVars.0]" and change SimOnGround=True to False. If it is "True", Splash!I have tried a bunch of different combinations and that one works best. That has worked for a few flights saved on moving carriers, so far, but not all flights set up that way. Dunno, why not all of them...Don
Be ready the plane is gonna leap forward! The 250ft is for that and some offset when saved that I can't eliminate(yet).I haven't tried it with any other carriers yet. A few different planes with tailhooks have all worked, so far. Hope this will help...Don

I have a flight saved. I pick a location and then slew and use f1 and f4 to put my airplane at the right alltitude by putting the carrie undrneath. Then i I put on the parking brakes then press pause and save it something like PNW Carrier ops. Then I can just load the flight load the carrier shift-j and get going.
