Patch for Antonov, but need help!

Featured Replies

This is becoming a bugbear! The patch for the marvellous Antonov AN-24RV appeared n the Avsim library yesterday, but even after installing it I can't catch a VOR or a GS.I've been through the extensive manual and there are no instructions on how to achieve a coupled approach, just a clue here and there about instructions in a document that isn't included in the download, isn't in any of the sim libraries I go to. Does anybody know how to couple this fantastic panel to the ILS, or can someone point me to a site that has the missing document?Allcott

Bump!Allcott

Hi Allcott.I had a day off yesterday, so I sat down and determined not to give up until I could figure this plane out.Well...it got the best of me. I am able to get it started and I can tune to a VOR/ADF, my question is very similar to yours. Is there any way to slave the autopilot to track the VOR tuned into Nav1?It would make it a lot easier.Cheers,Jay

I reckon we're missing something simple. I can see effects of various knobs and dials being on, off or twiddled, but I just can't get the combination to work. I tried the overhead panel switch combos but I'm almost sure the key is in the Navigators panel.Allcott

Played about with this for 4 hours last night, but still can't get this to work. It's strange that the very interesting manual tell you everything about what gauges ARE, but nothing about how to make them DO what you want them to..? Again, maybe the secret is hidden in the file that isn't included. Wouldn't it have been easier for everybody if they had just shipped that document as part of the readme? I've now searched all the major FS sites with large libraries, examined all the Ilyushin IL-18 files I can find, and STILL no sign of this document. I know this is a piece of work, but there are so mnay other fine aircraft out there right now if I don't find out soon I'll simply bin the Antonov, it's too frustrating to persevere when the answer is within ones reach, but exceeds ones grasp.Allcott

I have also been going through the process you mention. Very frustrating!I've only just managed to work out how to set up the autopilot to fly to specified headings, but I still can't work out VOR tracking and ILS capture.Pity really as the 24RV must be one of the best add-on aircraft available. (Love the visual model, great VC, maintenance mode, sliding captain's window, working wipers, etc.).

Allcot wrote:"Wouldn't it have been easier for everybody if they had just shipped that document as part of the readme?"No, that wouldn't be easier, as that document is in Russian only. That is what I have heard.Jozef http://www.dse.nl/~joker32/pictures/signature.jpg

Hi,If anyone has this documnet, I can get it translated, just mail it to me [email protected] too would like to get this bird flying with the autopilot in NAV mode, but can'tDan.

I too would be very interested.I wonder if the real autopilot fitted to the 24RV is supposed to track VORs and perform coupled approaches. I remember reading in documents included with older versions of the An-24 that coupled ILS approaches were not possible with this model of the AP.By the way, has anyone figured out how to extend the landing lights on the 24RV?I just get two small pools of light under the wings, but no forward runway lighting. Tried turning the lighs forward (Ctrl/Shift/8), but no joy.

I noticed that too about the landing lights.Today's my birthday so I took the day off. It's another perfect opportunity to fire this puppy up and see if I can't figure it out even more. It's an awesome aircraft...I just hope I'm not a square 1 when I go to bed tonight!Jay

To rotate the landing lights into position, hit the spoiler key `/`Allcott

I wonder if perhaps we are looking in the wrong places when it comes to slaving the autopilot to the nav radios. You need to hit CTRL M to turn on the ADF signal strength gauges. You need to press / to extend the landing lights...Perhaps you need to use a key combination for the nav radios/autopilot as well?Just a thought,Weaz

DanI may have the document you want. I'll e-mail it to you.Gavin
