November 28, 200322 yr >Hello,>>Thanks for all your help!!!!>>>I finally downloaded the Complete Update for MS MDAC from>their site. Installed into my XP and now TPX and the sim are>OK. No Database errors. It seems that the sim is using a>component of the most current MDAC (maybe ODBC) to get to the>database. The TPX only works directly in the SSW folder now.>It cannot "See" the map file otherwise.>>>One more question now that I have the bus powered up - sort>of:>>>I am working my way thru all of the power-up stuff and have>most things figured out EXCEPT for the buttons in the>Autopilot area - is there something I have to enable to>activate the controls in that area?>>>Anyway - thanks a lot for the help - I'll probably be back>again!!>>Ron Sagel>[email protected]>See attached pic, you need to push all the switches up, and then AP FCU will liven up :)
November 28, 200322 yr Hi Terblanche,I've read this interesting thread. Care to comment on this product once you get these issues ironed out? Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
November 28, 200322 yr The file from SimMarket has all required files in the download and does include the navdata. I would also agree the best course of action is to re-install the V1.3 package and not rely on an upgrade. I will also agree the manuals, although comprehensive, do not mention a couple of important points so it can be difficult to get the bird working on the first couple of flights - she is worth the effort though!I have not had a single problem with this package apert from the LOC not capturing after pressing V/L but another poster has confirmed this as an issue if the Cessna isn't loaded first.Last time I had a big grin on my face after a landing was with PIC767. PMDG 737 is great but did not make me smile - all three of my flights with the A310 have given me back that smile!I really hope the posters with problems get them sorted as this plane/panel combo derserve to do well.Ray Keattch.
November 28, 200322 yr Hello Terblanche,"piracy neuroses - can't they learn anything from Carenado or Dreamfleet"You're perfectly right, specially on this. And they don't even manage to programm a copy-protection software that works properly! No readmes, nothing! First and last plane I've bought from them. Enjoy my money SSW, yo're never going to see a penny again!AC5 Alfredo Croci Pulverstrasse 8 P.O.Box 71 3048 Worblaufen Switzerland Tel. +4131 9219231 [email protected]

November 28, 200322 yr Ray, Thanks for your help and suggestions. The SSW support folks worked me through it, it took about a day, but it was worth the effort. A pretty amazing A310 simulation, with functionality and systems modelling that is first class. The manuals are pretty extensive, but they do seem more geared to operating the real thing than the actual FS panel. But with the forum you can stumble through that. If I was SSW, I would supplement the manuals, develop a tutorial and include a well documented read me file with the downloads...as well as try to reduce how onerous the download/registration process is (any pirates would be exhausted and discouraged trying to work through the tortured process I went through yesterday...). Doing those things might increase the appeal to the wider FS community, because this aircraft is definitely worth buying and is getting better all of the time.regards,a new fan.
November 28, 200322 yr Terblanche..How is it going now? Is it living up to your hopes, or my praise. :)Jason
November 28, 200322 yr Thank you Jason ...Later tonight I will give it a try. Did a few circuits at EDDK and I have to flip between the manuals and the panel with alt + tab all the time. Funny how humble it makes you - because I consider myself an expert on the A320 (not only on P$$ A3xx but I have almost 60 hours in a real A320 sim as well) and I can do all kinds of crazy stuff with the MCDU in the A320 and now you have to learn it all over again. But I will report back after my first airport to airport flight. Everything is different and so far so good. The only advice so far for SSW is:1. Sort this authenticatin blah blah out because you will get many more customers if you do not need to go through a 28 hours of e-mail and posts on forums.2. Please write a manual for your panel as within FS9Will speak again a little later. Who knows, maybe the pax will fly with me again after tonight.T
November 28, 200322 yr Hello again,Sorry to bother but I finally (with your great help) got the BUS into the air (sort of)I'm getting along OK with the panel switch issues but now I can't seem to find whatever enables the "detail" on my instruments (like the compass rose, etc) I don't have any detail on the main flight instruments at all - no airports , etc. The database is OK since I toyed with FMS entry and the airport codes, etc are accepted. All of the equipment is on, I can fly the bird manually and I'll wait to tackle this FMS (I can fly the one in the PMDG 737 and the PSS bus)What am I missing? Thanks again,Ron [email protected]

Turn all 3 IRS Awitches to the ATT position and then HIT Align IRS on the FMS. Once you have don that, you must wait, for however long you have set the IRS Align. On Completeion of the IRS Align the ND will give you all the Flight Info.REMEMBER DO NOT PRESS ALIGN IRS UNTILL YOU FLIGHT PLAN IS LOADED.The 3 IRS Switches are on the Over Head Panel. You can set how long they take to work from the SSW Menu, but any changes made require a restsrt of FS.Hope this helps. Any Q's please post them, and Ill do my best to help you.Jason>
November 28, 200322 yr Okay - I did my first flight!EDDK - LFPO - EDDSIt all went well accept for one or two things that I need to 'discover' or that needs to be 'fix' ...The good news:The plane handles extremely well, slow in the first few seconds of a turn and then it bytes like the real thing. The detail in the panel must be a first for FS. I doubt if your average flightsim pilot will be able to enjoy all the detail and seeing that the manuals will tell you everything but NOTHING - will make it even more difficult. All in all my first impressions are a big WHAO!The bad news:The bleedthrough on the panels where you could see patches of the sky of the backdrop,is unexeptable. (See picture) The night panel is even worst and little things like that drives me mad. It's like a rattle in your car!I can not get the VOR1 and VOR2 tuned. No matter what I did, it will not pick up the freq I've entered. I've tried all three switches underneath the FD switch. No luck.VOR2 only tunes to 115.49 and will not select 115.50.I've tried Jason's trick with the Cessna startup and then cold and dark startup to the A310 - it does not want to show the ILS although it was correctly tuned. I've tried for about 15 minutes while holding for LFPO. No ILS and I had to come in manually. I've also checked the FMC and the correct runway was selected. When I approach EDDS the ILS showed the LOC and GS on the PFD but when the magenta diamond moved over, it did not intercept the LOC neither the GS and again it was off with the AP and manually landed.Maybe there is a fix or maybe I've missed something. All in all - I'm happy but not satisfied yet!RegardsTerblanche
